That horrible feeling of dread got stronger with each passing minute you stood there. Your instincts were screaming at you to run, but where? To Vector? Outside the palace? You couldn't tell, and ended up stuck in a fixed position as more thoughts and uneasy feelings clouded your mind. You could only force yourself to move again the moment you heard slow footsteps coming down the corridor Vector had gone through not long ago.

'Is he back already?' Yes, you had been thinking and debating with yourself for a while, but surely the meeting shouldn't have ended so soon.

The more you listened to the footsteps approach, the faster your heartbeat became. There was something else there too, behind the footsteps was the sound of something metallic scraping against the floor. A sword perhaps?

You clenched your fists and turned to face the corridor's entrance where the footsteps were coming from. Was it Vector? If so then you were rightfully curious as to why he was dragging his weapon. Every minute you waited, the thinner the air around you became. Your breaths became shallow, and it felt as though you were preparing to defend yourself against an enemy that you had yet to see. But when the person behind those unnerving noises finally appeared, you froze.

"Vector?"

There he stood, looking the same as when you last saw him just a short while ago. The only difference now were the bloody splats that stained his clothes and the eerie smile he was giving you.

"Hello, (y/n)." He dropped the bloody sword--making an audible clang when it hit the floor--and approached you with ease, gently lifting your face with one of his hands.

You were quite literally frozen in shock when he did so. Everything you were seeing felt unbelievable, the prince standing before you covered in blood and giving you a calm smile when that should be the exact opposite of how he was supposed to react was just one of the shocking details. Another was the atmosphere that surrounded him. It had changed drastically.

"Oh, if you're wondering how my 'talk' with father went then," He cackled. "Let's just say he won't be a hindrance to us anymore." He was still caressing your cheek when he spoke, giving you a twisted, almost affectionate look.

'What? What exactly happened down there?' You wanted to ask, but the look he was giving you made you keep quiet. His once warm and comforting aura had been replaced with an ice cold one that brought you nothing but uneasiness. The same went for his touch which, although looked to be affectionate, felt nothing like a gentle caress.

"The same goes for my mother, with the two of them gone, we'll be able to do as we please."

You finally found your voice at the mention of the Queen.

"What? What exactly did they- did you do, Vector?" Your breathing had become heavier, and even though you had a feeling you knew what the answer to your own question was, you kept on denying it.

And yet, the sickly sweet smile never left the prince's face.

"Do you really want to know?"

You firmly nodded, trying to chase away your nerves and stand your ground. So the prince leaned in and gingerly whispered in your ear.

"I killed them, (y/n)."

At that very moment, the air became stagnant.

"Killed...them?" You repeated, nearly breathless at how preposterous those words sounded. "Surely you jest, Vector," You unknowingly took a step back, a weak smile now present on your lips. "You would never do such a thing."

Vector's smile widened and the pit in your stomach grew worse.

"What makes you say that, (y/n)?" He made a swift movement and grabbed his sword again. "I have always wanted to bring change to this kingdom and now that I'm king, I can finally do that," He raised his sword. "And I'll do it no matter who's blood I have to spill."
