Narrator's POV
Jace, Clary and Simon returned to the institute after they were attacked by a member of the circle. Simon was stunned by the interior of the institute, which was equipped with a lot of technology, and the image of two policemen outside the institute appeared on the screen. Fortunately, barriers protected the Institute against uninvited guests.
- What's going on? - Alec asked coldly as he walked over to Clary, Jace and Simon. He then looked at Simon and then at the blonde man. - Why is there a mundane at the institute?
- A member of the circle followed him to get to Clary - Jace replied
- A round rune, like the ones of the guys who killed their mother - Added Clary, who wanted to find her mother, although she was afraid that she would have to ask her older sister Chloe, whom she didn't like, for it.
- Who exactly are the members of the Circle and why are they trying to kill us? - Simon asked worriedly, who didn't know exactly what Clary had gotten herself into.
- All we know is that the Circle led a rebellion long ago. Many shadowhunters died, including my father - The blonde man, who was fed up with Simon's company, replied.
- And since the rebellion, we've been banned from even hearing about the Circle - Alec said.
- How is that even possible? This is your story - The red-haired girl noticed.
- Says the girl who didn't even know she was a shadowhunter - The blondeman stated before Jace began to follow Alec to the set of monitors where Izzy was sitting in a chair and checking each monitor.
- You're right. And now the only person who knew the truth is missing - Clary said as Jace and Alec started to walk away from her. - So I don't care about your rules and prohibitions. There has to be someone who can tell me where to find my mother - She stated pleadingly to Jace as he and Alec walked over to Izzy, who was doing something on the monitor.
- He is - Jace said as he moved away from Alec and passed the red-haired girl. - Are you coming? - The blonde man asked Clary
- Yes - Clary replied, and she and Simon began to follow Jace to the training room until Jace stopped them.
- No, you - Jace said to Simon as the blonde man stopped and looked at him.
- Hey, the two of us is a package deal - Clary announced.
- That's true - Simon agreed with Clary.
- There are runes on the floor of the training room that could kill your down-to-earth boyfriend - The blonde man informed them.
- He's not my... - Clary started to explain, and Simon interrupted her.
