"Adam?"

Why are their lights flashing everywhere? Why is everything so fuzzy? Why is the sky getting darker? What's that horrible sound? Why is everyone screaming!? Why can't I hold my eyes open? What's happening?!?

"Adam!!"

"Adam! Get ready for school!" My mother shouts. Quickly glancing at my clock and realizing I only have 10 minutes to get ready, I grab my shoes and school bag and head to the kitchen.

"Brother!" I smile as my beautiful little sister shouts, jumping into my arms.

"Sweet Pea!" I yell right back, throwing the 7-year-old in the air. She looks up at me with those beautiful doe eyes and I smile wider. I love Amelia with everything in me. Heck, I love her more than my own life! She has big brown doe eyes, brown straight hair, and she's really short. She has the cutest run, too. She hobbles slightly because of the accident.

"I made you a bowl!" She said pointing to the cereal on the table. I gently put her down and feel the smile on my face get bigger. I sit down in the chair in front of me and pull the bowl over. Fruitloops! My favorite! I go to take a huge bite when a tiny child appears in my lap, sliding her bowl next to mine.

"What da ya think you're doing missy?" I chide jokingly. She starts giggling and I can't help the grin that brakes out on my face. She ignores me and promptly shoves a spoon of Fruity Pebbles into her mouth. Leaning over her awkwardly I start eating too. I notice her smile slip off her face as the table gets quiet.

"Munch crunch! Eat the loops!" I teased in an overly animated voice. She starts giggling.

"Aha! You've fallen for my master plan!" I shout and start to tickle her sides. She tries to tell me to stop but her laughter stops her from even saying a word.

"S-stop!" She yells, giggling and grinning and going red in the face.

"Not a chance!" I shout and start laughing evilly.

"Aw! My babies!" My mother, Amy, coos as she walks into the kitchen. She's wearing a fancy suit and she has her hair in a bun. She looks stunning, as all the girls in my family do.

"Adam!" My sister snaps. I see Amelia beaming so I stop torturing her. I plant a kiss on her head before shoveling all the cereal I can into my mouth. My little sister follows suit.

"Well, darling, I have to get to work. You'll have to take the bus today." My mother sighs, coming into the dining room and grabbing her purse.

"Okay, love you, Mom. Drive safe." I say, reaching out with one arm to hug her. Her eyes mist up and she kisses my forehead.

"BYE, MOMMY!" Amelia shouts from her spot on my lap. She quickly stands up, crushing my thighs, and hugs our mom. Crushing my head in between them. So, being the best big brother in the world, I blow a raspberry on her stomach. She jumps away shrieking. My mother lets out a little chuckle before kissing my head again and walking out the door. Sighing in content, I stand up and place my adorable baby sister in the chair. I check the time on my phone and see I only have two minutes to get to the bus stop.

"Well, my little princess, I have to go sit on a big stinky bus with loud weirdos," I announce loudly. She says goodbye around a mouthful of food and waves her hand at me. I kiss her head lightly before slipping on my shoes and heading out. I see her nanny's car coming down the road so I don't bother worrying.

It's slightly chilly so I pull my sweatshirt tighter around me. I hear the birds chirping and the sound of cars running. I smell the air and feel the sunlight. It's amazing. I still haven't come to terms with the fact that I almost lost this. The feeling of living
