The Hot Robot

I run down the hall and out the door, almost knocking into my cleaning robot. I named it Roomba as a joke since Roombas haven't been built for... I think a little over 80 years? Anyways they are super old. I glance down at my wristband and see the time. Shit! I'm gonna miss the bus!

I sprint, and if I were in a movie, my hat would be falling off, my coat billowing behind me, my briefcase dropping papers. I get to the stop a minute before the bus. Whew! I climb on.

"Heyo, bus driver bot!" I say, waving at the robot in the driver's seat. It turns to me and nods. I slip into a seat and relax.

----

I'm running way late! I grab my coffee from the counter after cleaning up the mess I made when I spilled the pot. I swing open the door to my organization's offices and then head to the back, tripping over the floor and my feet. I pass IAAN as I go. I stop, stumbling.

"Hi, IAAN." The robot turns to me and smiles. He is a special robot. A very special robot.

"Hello, Arron. You are running late today." I blush and run to my desk, falling into my chair with a sigh.

----

"Hello, Arron." I look up as IAAN leans into my cubical. He has a cup of coffee in his hand.

"Hi, IAAN. Do you need something?" I ask. He shakes his head.

"No. I have gotten you this coffee." He places it down on my desk. I feel my cheeks go red.

"Oh! Thank you IAAN!" I grin at him and take a sip of the drink. Mmm! Exactly how I like it! No sugar, but tons of milk!

"How did you know I liked my coffee this way?" I can't help but ask. But maybe he just knows how everyone likes their coffee. Robots do have an impeccable memory. Or maybe he just guesses.

"I have remembered the way you like it so I could bring you some." Oh my gosh! That's so sweet!

"Oh! That's super sweet IAAN!" IAAN smiles. I have to admit, it looks a little creepy since his muscles are actually gears so it's not as smooth as a human smile. It's really cool how far robots have come. Of course, they must have started out how the olden days people thought they would, stoic and in need of direction to do anything. But not anymore. Now robots have metal muscles as I call them. Basically, they can function just like a human's organic muscle, but they are made of rubber and other materials. And artificial intelligence has come a long way! Robots can pretty much feel the same level of emotions as humans! I'm not a scientist or an engineer myself, so I don't know exactly how it works, but it's really cool. Robots can fall in love, they can hate, they feel empathy, jealousy, any emotion a human can feel, a robot can feel.

I look up at IAAN, with his smile and his coffee for me. I blush.

"Well, IAAN, I have to get back to work, but maybe we can take lunch at the same time?" Shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit. Did I just ask my robot coworker on a date? Oh my god. I didn't mean it like that!

"We should take lunch at the same time. When is a good time for you?" IAAN says, making my heart stutter. He's... agreeing? Ohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygodohmygod!

"Uh. 12:30." I can't believe it. Dose IAAN think it's a date? Or dose he just think its two coworkers going out for lunch?

"12:30 marked as Lunch With Arron. Goodbye." And then he is gone. Oh my gooooooosh! Ah! I think this is a date. Oh god. Where should we eat? Somewhere that has a wide variety. With advancements in technology, they were able to make tongues with taste receptors for robots. Any food they eat is kinda recycled then they can bring it to special centers were it is removed and used as compost. Well, the really advanced ones anyways. My cleaning bot back home doesn't have it or the tongue. They also were able to add "nerves" so robots can feel things like touch and heat! I just think robots are really cool.
