I woke up all of a sudden, with a start, as if my surroundings were about to attack me. As I opened my eyes, I saw that it was dark. Thank god. Even the light from the lamp was hurting my eyes. Then it all came back to me. The wolfsbane, the kidnapping, the mole...
... the mate...
It was obvious that he was mate. But Riley thought she had lost her mate years ago. When she had lost her family in the Second Royal War.
It was never confirmed that he was her mate. They were inseparable. But they were barely five. They were so co dependent that everyone assumed they were mates.
Riley tried to mindlink beta, but her mindlink was blocked. That meant that there was still some wolfsbane in her system. She assumed that it she must have been asleep for a few days. She saw that her cell phone was on the nightstand. She reached out for it, and was shocked. It was the same day! Evening in fact. How was this possible? She used her phone to text Jordan to come to her room.
Within seconds she heard footsteps approaching and Jordan appeared opening the door.
Riley croaked, ' water.' He used the jar to purr water in the glass and gave it to her. Riley drank it and immediately felt better. 'Fill me in.'
So Jordan told her, how the Lycan broke through his chains, told them he was her mate, and found her. He then sucked as much wolfsbane out of her broodstream he could and took it in his, and was next door unconscious.
He forbade any pack member from entering, and any male from staying in her room.'
Riley guessed why that might be. His Lycan was jealous, but he tried to hide his read motivation under jealously. He knew there was a traitor in the pack.
'Take me to him.'

...................

Riley did a good job binding and chaining him. She didn't throw him back in the cells, but she couldn't just leave a rogue in the open in her pack, even if it was her mate who saved her life. Her pack came before her.
She was dead tired, but she went over everything which had happened, addressed her pack, went over the pack members and tried to figure out who could be the mole.
One thing she was certain of was that it was definitely out that Blood Mountain pack's Alpha was female.
Th wolves who took her knew who to take. Her assistant Susie had been injured too, and was recovering in the infirmary. She could try to Alpha command her pack, but it is likely that the traitor made a blood oath, which was impossible to break.
What she was confused about was why would anyone want to cross her. She had the largest and strongest pack in the world, she had connections everywhere. having more that five hundred members was considered a large and powerful pack in the werewolf world.
The only thing had been trouble was her mate: the lycan who had turned up unannounced. He said he had been running from someone. Maybe that someone thought she was housing him? But then why not just kidnap the Lycan? Even as she asked herself that, she knew. It was easy to drug her as she trusted her pack members and was easier to bring down. Riley knew she was strong, but Lycan were blessed by the moon goddess herself. They were a superior breed, like werewolves to human in strength. And one of them was her mate...
With these thoughts in mind, she fell asleep.

.............

Riley tried to overcome drowsiness as she felt Jordan mindlink her. 'Alpha, he is awake.'
One of Riley's drawbacks was that she liked to sleep, and as an Alpha it was a challenging task. She willed herself to wake up. He is awake.
Suddenly her drowsiness disappeared. He was her mate, and possible the reason her pack would be in danger.
She got ready in under 10 minutes, and walked to the room next to hers.
There, on the bed, the Lycan lay, with his arms and cuffs in chains, and a very thick chain holding his body in place over his stomach.
Riley felt a tug in her stomach the moment she saw him, and was drawn towards him.
The lycan grinned. ' Baby, if you wanted me in cuffs, all you had to do is ask. I like it that you are kinky,'
Riley gasped at his retort. Yet at the same time she felt laughing.
However, she was direct in her approach. 'You are a Lycan. You are my prisoner and a threat to my pack till we figure out why rogues dared to attack us. You are also my mate. But you will only be the Mani of this pack till you are deemed worthy of that position. Which is unluckily as we know nothing about you. You even refused to tell me your name!'
The Lycan's eyes hardened. 'So you mean you would reject me? You will reject me because I refuse to part with my name? Does it matter what it it?' He cocked his eyebrow.
Riley felt an indescribable pain of loss at hearing the the word 'reject'. But to her her pack was a priority.
'Yes. I'll reject you the need be.'
She looked at the lycan in the eye. She kept referring to him as the lycan as she didn't want to refer to him as her mate.
In his eye, she saw betrayal and hurt at her words.
