Mayumi's POV

We're currently in the principal's office. All the necessary papers had already been submitted and we were just waiting for them to give Kurapika the entrance exam. He could have taken it a little later but he insisted that he was fine.

We stayed silent until the principal came in moments later, Kurapika's exam paper in hand. I took that as my cue to leave.

As I passed by Kurapika I whispered, "Good luck."

I only said that because I didn't want the time I spent on getting him enrolled here get wasted.

I hope Kurapika doesn't get any ideas.

I walked straight out without looking back and made my way to my locker where I saw my two friends, Yuzuki and Karin, waiting for me.

"Hey Mayumi!" Yuzuki said.

"Good morning, Mayumi!" Karin exclaimed. Karin was always a little more hyper than us.

"Hi guys," I said.

"So, how was your weekend?" Yuzuki asked.

"I guess you could say I have a roommate now."

"Really? What happened?"

I proceeded to explain the weekend's events to them. They were shocked, but they were also looking forward to what will happen.

We continued to chat in the hallway until a certain blond showed up.

"Kurapika? That was quick." I said in disbelief.

"The problems were easy. I told you I'd be fine."

I was still dumbfounded.

Karin spoke up. "Um...Mayumi, is he...?"

"Oh," I said. "He's Kurapika. Kurapika, these are my friends, Yuzuki and Karin."

"Hello," Kurapika said politely. "I'm new here, so if you girls aren't busy, could you please show me around the school? The principal said that I can start attending classes tomorrow and to just take a look around for today."

Before I could say something, Yuzuki said, "Sure! We can show you around for a few minutes."

I guess I'll just tag along then.

Kurapika's POV

While Mayumi and her friends attended their afternoon classes I sat on a bench and read a book even though Mayumi gave me the keys to her apartment. I still wanted to wait for her and accompany her home.

I wonder if she was lonely, staying in that apartment by herself...and why didn't her family move with her?

I was busy thinking so I was startled when someone beside me said, "What are you still doing here?"

I turned my head and saw Mayumi, bag in hand, looking at me questioningly.

"I waited for you to finish class so that I can walk with you going home."

"You could have went home by yourself. You have the keys."

"I just thought you might want some company."

Mayumi opened her mouth, but she just closed it then sighed.

"Okay, let's go home," she said, then started walking.

I started following her when she said, "You really should have went ahead... waiting for me might have inconvenienced you."

I heard every word she said and grinned. I caught up to her and said, "I wasn't inconvenienced at all. It was worth the wait if it meant getting to walk with you like this."

Other than not meeting my eyes, Mayumi gave no indication that she heard me.
