"Get him please!" Ashley yelled out.
"I'm trying but I'm not in shape for this." I said laughing.
"Y'all are both so lazy." Jordan said.
"I am not." I said.
"I just don't feel like chasing him." I said lifting my shoulders.
BJ was running around the house. We needed to put him to sleep but we couldn't catch him. Babies are really fast.
"I'm busy." Ashley said.
"Busy doing what?" Jordan asked.
"Something that prevents me from running after BJ." She said in a sarcastic voice.
Jordan rolled his eyes.
"Yea. I Bet." He said annoyed.
"I'll get him." Jordan said. "But you guys owe me for this."
"He's your son." I said.
"He's yours, too."
He wasn't wrong.
Jordan chased after his son for about 3 minutes before he caught up to him. He handed him to me and flopped on the couch tired. I laughed. I took BJ up to his room. I played with him for awhile. He started to get sleepy. I picked him up and stared to rock him. He gradually fell asleep in my arms. Ashley came in the room and tucked him in bed. She is such a good mother figure. Even if she wasn't biologically his mother she was great at it. She wanted everything to do with him. We all went to the living room and fell on the couch. We were completely wore out. Having a baby around was tiring. Plus, we had our own jobs to do. We started to get some work done. Cleaned up the house for a little and did things here and there. When we were done, we wanted to take a nap. And as soon as we all got into bed. BJ started to cry.
"Not it!" I immediately yelled.
"Not it." Jordan yelled.
"For the parents of this child, y'all really aren't acting like one." Ashley said getting out of bed.
Jordan and I both laughed.
"Thank you." We both said.
"Yea Yea, whatever." She said leaving the room.
Jordan got closer to me and laid on my chest.
"Hey mama." He said.
"Hey, baby." I said.
"How are you?" He asked.
"I'm good." I answered. "Just tired."
I sighed.
"Yea, me too." He said.
We sat in silence for a second then he spoke again.
"I was thinking."
"Yea, what's up?" I said.
"What if we got married?" He said shakily.
I looked confused.
"How? It can't just be the two of us."
"No. Not just me and you. Ashley too. All of us."
"How?" I asked.
"It's not necessarily getting married."
I was still confused.
"It's a commitment thing. It's like getting married but not officially but we would make a promise to always be together and care for our family." He explained.
"I like it. It would make us an official family."
He smiled. I smiled back. Ashley walked into the room with BJ. We told her about what we discussed. She liked the idea and we all agreed to go through with it. One month later. We were all together. One big happy family. We all took Jordan's last name. Anderson. We were official. I couldn't believe it. Jordan bought Ashley and me rings. Ashley and I bought him one. It was so beautiful. We all came together and got BJ and chain that had all of our names on it and a picture of us together. We did. We made it. This was it. Our life. Our wonderful beautiful life. Who knew this would be my future?
A successful business woman, with an amazing husband and wife. A beautiful baby boy. Loving her best life. I came from an unforgiving life. I terrible one. With pain and scars that still exist. And they won't ever go away. But I chose to make that pain strength. To listen to my father and follow my heart. And make my life a better one given to me. I changed my own destiny.
"Baby." Jordan said to me.
"Yea." I replied.
"I love you. And I'm proud of you. You are so strong and beautiful. You make me live another day. And can't wait to see what's ahead for you in the future." He said.
I had tears in my eyes.
"Awww. Baby. Thank you. I love you, too. And I hope the future holds good things for us."
"Yea. Like another baby." He did smiling hard.
He would always bring up trying to have another baby so he can get a daughter. I sighed.
"You better ask Ashley. I'm closed." I said laughing.
Ashley looked at me crazy.
"As much pain as you went through, I don't think I even want to have a kid."
Jordan had a frown on his face. Ashley and I both laughed. He smiled. I loved both of them. I couldn't wish for anything more. All three of us in one relationship. Who would have thought? If you told me this is where I would be 20 years ago, I wouldn't believe you. But seeing my life grow and become so prosperous, I do now.
