5: Blackmail

Sam's POV

The final school bell rang, releasing all the students. I could now finally go home and just relax, more importantly think about what happened today with Colby, I mean, he kissed my cheek. What does that mean? Is it a sign to say he's here for me? Or is he going to act sorry for me and leave me? Honestly, it could be any of those, I was used to it, I've been used for many things.

I was walking the back streets home, passing the park next to the school. I feel hands cover my mouth as I'm being pulled behind bushes. I try thrashing around to get out of their grasp, but I was just too weak. The hand was released, I turned around to see who it was. My eyes widened at who was standing in front of me.

"Ahh Samuel, I hear you've got your own personal bodyguard,"-Brennen said.

"So what, what does that have to do with anything?"-I ask, backing myself slowly away, only to be pulled closer to Brennen.

He grabbed onto my shoulders and stared me in the eye. "We need your help, we're failing math and we know your a pretty brainy kid, so could you help us?"-Brennen asked.

"No I'm not helping, you could pay attention in class and ask the teacher, besides what makes you think I'd help you guys, after everything you've done"-I said, shaking Brennens hands off my shoulders.

"We knew you wouldn't agree, if our grades don't go up, we can't stay on the baseball team, stupid teachers. So how about this, if you don't help us we will make you and your family's life, a living hell, but there's also a catch with agreeing. If you agree you have to stop talking to Colby, break his heart because no doubt you will, I want to see him suffer from losing his love"-Brennen said smirking.

I just stood there speechless. "Well, are you gonna help us or not"-Matthew spoke up. I start to panic looking between the three of them, that's my family, I can't let anything happen to them, plus Colby will end up leaving me like everybody else any way.

"Ok I'll do it, you want to go to library to study?"-I ask. They all nod and we make our way to the library. I feel something vibrate in my pocket, I pull it out discreetly and saw his name flash across the screen.

I feel warm liquid run down my cheek, about to put my phone in my pocket when it's snatched out of my hands, "I'll take that"-Brennen said shoving it in his pocket.

"I'm sorry Colby"-I whispered to myself.

I eventually left the library after 2 and a half hours of straight studying and me basically finishing their homework. This will all be worth it, right?

I pushed open the front door to the smell of tacos, I walk into the kitchen and see my mother. "Hey Sam your lat-"-She spoke before looking up at me, she walked over to me and brought her hand up to my cheek, I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

She pulled me into her warm embrace, she always knew my mood, her motherly hugs normally bring a smile to my face, this time it didn't. I already miss Colby, but this was for my family.

"Are you alright sweetheart, you look exhausted and stressed?"-She said, guiding me to sit down.

"Y-Yeah, schools just been very stressful, with homework and stuff"-I said, fiddling with my hands refusing to look her in the eye. She just nodded.

"Why don't you sleep for a few hours I'll bring food up later"-She suggested, I nodded, going upstairs to my room.

7:25.A.M

I was currently in the shower, just trying to relax, I was nervous to go to school. What will happen between Colby and I? I stepped out of the shower, wrapping the towel around my waist. Today was going to be bad.

8:25.A.M

I was at my locker getting my stuff out, when I feel a tap on my shoulder. I slowly turn around and see his beautiful blue eyes.

"Hey you didn't text me back"-Colby said softly.

"Y-Yeah I um, I got busy."-I said, I was about to say something, when I remember what Brennen said.

"I got to go"-I said walking down the hall. When I was pulled back into Colby's chest, "no talk to me I missed not texting you, plus we have the same cla-"- Colby couldn't finish before I interrupted him.

"COLBY! JUST STOP TALKING, LEAVE ME ALONE!"-I yelled, turning on my heels, when I felt my hand being grabbed.

"Sam, tell me what's wrong"-He said softly, I didn't respond I just ripped my hand out of his. And muttered, "it's for the best", and I walked off to class, this time sitting on the opposite side of the room to Colby.

Let me tell you, screaming in the face of the guy who's protected me, saved me so many times already and the one I've grown to love, isn't easy. I just wanted to hug him but I couldn't.

12:30.P.M

I was walking back to my locker to get some lunch I had put in there, when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"God sake Colby I told you leave me alone!"-I turn around to be met by the brown eyes of the guy I despise.

"Wow Sam, I saw what you did this morning, your already tearing his heart apart, but I need more, walk away when he talks to you"-Brennen said. "Come on lets do some more study, teacher was impressed today"-Brennen smiles, pulling me by the arm to the library and I just let him.

We were probably 20 minutes in to studying, when I hear my name called, I recognise the voice and I was so close to breaking down right then and there.

I didn't look up, I glanced at Brennen and he looked at me.

"Go on Colby, can't you tell he can't be bothered with you anymore, you've already bored him"-Brennen said leaning back in his chair crossing his arms.

"What did you say to him?"-Colby asked.

I couldn't take it, I got up and was about to leave the library, when Colby grabbed my arm, he must of ran to get to me.

"Sam, why are you hanging out with Brennen, come on please you can't leave me, I don't want to lose you, I PROMISE I'm not like those other guys. Please your all I have left"-Colby said, I could hear him silently crying, begging me to even look at him.

I shook my head and shook his grip off and walked outside and to my next class.
