6: Colby's fear

Colby's POV
I just stood there stunned, watching the blonde I love dearly walk away from me. It felt like my heart had just been ripped apart and he has the other half. My vision became blurry and a whimper escaped my lips.

"Wow he just broke your tiny heart, that must sting,"-Brennen said, walking up to Colby.

Colby turned to his ex-best friend, feeling anger and frustration build up inside. He was just taunting him and he was on the verge of breaking down, right then and there.

"Just leave me alone, go find your puppets"-Colby said, walking out of the library. Brennen followed closely behind. "Nah they're useless, plus I've got a new friend now, Sam. He's a pretty awesome kid."-Brennen smiled, Colby knew exactly what he was trying to do.

"Would you stop talking about him, I hate hearing his name roll off your tongue."-Colby spat. Brennen grabbed onto Colby's shoulder forcing him to stop. "And why would I ever do that? You used to talk non stop about him when he first walked in the school gates. Surely you wouldn't care,"-Brennen said, taking a deep breath.

"But you do care, very much in fact. Let's face it, Colby, I can see your undying love for him and I know your biggest fear is losing him. But I don't care about your fear, in fact, I wouldn't care if it meant for your loved one to slowly wither and die."-Brennen hissed.

Colby flashed his red eyes at him, feeling his fangs piercing his inner lip. "Don't you dare even think about touching him"-Colby snapped, starting to feel his inner vampire take over.

"But Samuel, he's my main man now. He told me he was tired of you never giving him his own space. He told me he was uncomfortable around you. He will never fully trust you, you can't fix what is already badly damaged. Sam is like shattered glass, broken into little pieces and will never be the same"-Brennen whispered, making the hairs on Colby's neck stand up.

"Stop talking about him! I know Sam and he would never say those things about me"-Colby stated.

"You are so stubborn, but these messages will prove to you Sam, is much better without you,"-Brennen sighed, pulling out his phone and unlocking it.

He saw the contact, the picture of the contact. The light blonde hair, the smile, it made his heart flutter. Sam walking out on him, the overwhelming feeling of sadness, made him realize how much he really loved the blonde. A single tear rolled down Colby's cheek. But he quickly fought back the tears that were about to fall, whipping the one tear away.

Samuel!!
I just need a break, I don't often get time by myself. I'm nervous to be pulled into any drama in his life. He's just a bit too clingy and has this weird thing about him where his eyes go red, it's kinda creepy.

Brennen
So you're not quite the fan of Colby, he's too much to handle?

Samuel!!
Exactly that, it's why I've decided to stick with you. I don't want to be the kid who looks too weak. If I'm in your friend group I'll feel like I actually have a place for me. Colby isn't worth my time and space.

"That's not real, Sam told me he loves being around me."-Colby stated, his voice sounding shaky.

"Oh, it's very true."-Brennen said.

"I don't trust anything you say so I want to hear it from Sam."-Colby retorted, starting to walk off.

"Colby, don't you remember he walked out on you. He doesn't want you even being associated with him, I wouldn't bother"-Brennen said, Colby now has his back to Brennen.

Colby just shook his head, finally letting some tears fall. "Then I'll just have to try because if you remember, I don't let go of things I love that easy,"-Colby said.

Colby was fastly making his way through the crowded halls, trying to get to Sam's locker. When he reached it, he saw the blond- his blonde, gathering things from his locker. Colby was definitely hurt by Sam walking out on him, but he still loved him, nothing was going to change that.

"Sam!"-Colby yelled. He saw him close his locker and start to walk away from him. He ran to catch up to him standing in front of him, making Sam stop to a halt.

"Please just let me talk, I wanna know what I've done. I want to hear it from you, not from Brennen,"-Colby begged. Sam shook his head, refusing to look the brunette in the eyes, scared Brennen would be watching.

"Why bother asking me? It will just be the same as what Brennen said, it's not a lie"-Sam grunted. "Come on Sam, I may have only known you for a short time but, you seem so happy around me, so why talk bad about me behind my back?"-Colby spoke softly. The bell rang, telling the teenagers to get to their last class.

"I'm sorry. I have to go."-Sam said, walking around Colby. Leaving Colby shocked.

Colby stood in front of his bathroom mirror, watching the tears trickle down his face and go down the drain, gripping the sink tightly. His sobs could probably be heard from a mile away, good thing he was home alone. The thing Brennen said, was repeating in his head. "He doesn't even want to be associated with you". The voice aggravated him, but when he thought about Sam walking out on him, it made him nearly collapse to the ground.

"Your biggest fear is losing Sam."

"I know, I know. And now I've lost him and it's all my fault!"-Colby cried to himself. He was brought out of his breakdown when he heard his phone vibrate, he turned to his phone to see multiple texts from his friend group. (FINALLY, THEY ARE IN THE STORY)

Hey Colby, how come you haven't been with the group are you alright?

Jake
You haven't been coming over and studying what's the deal

Mike
I haven't heard from you in ages, want to hang out this weekend?

Colby had completely forgotten about his friend group he was a part of, he was so distracted by Sam he didn't even talk to them. Come to think of it, Colby never even got the chance to introduce his friend group to Sam. He's just been through so much with Sam and his own life.

Colby didn't even bother responding; he probably would have come off as rude, so he just turned his phone off. And just walked back into his room and fell face-first on his bed, the tears soaking into his duvet. He couldn't lose Sam, he was too important. Sam was his soulmate and Colby was going to figure out what's going on. With the help of his friends.
