How to start, how to start. Lets see. I'll start before the rift. What's that? Oh. The riff? Yeah, okay. I'll explain it. It was a time when almost everyone died of either starvation or loneliness, and we all had to repopulate. It that what you're asking? Okay. Now it's my turn to tell. To start spinning the web of stories, all starting from one small proposition, a proposition that could have changed my fate, and so many others. In whether that way could be good or bad I don't know. And I wouldn't want it to change anyway. So let's begin, shall we?

Dr. Nathaniel Sand realized that the citizens of Kärment were dying from the inside. Of what, he didn't know. Yet. So he set out to find this plague, and to find it, he took an X-ray of someone who had died of this so called plague. And what did he find? Darkness. Yeah, you heard me right. Darkness. Spreading from the depths and arteries of the heart, up to the neck, and then intertwining itself into the spinal cord, then into the brain. And the darkness snapped the nerve that made the man live. And that was it.

Because these people kept dying, there were no workers, or politicians, or merchants. No workers, no products. No politicians, misconduct. No merchants, no sales. No sales, no money. No money, bad economy. Bad economy, no food. No food? Guess. That's right. Death. That's why Dr. Nathaniel had to stop this. Immediately. So he created a serum that automatically tattoos the offspring of the person injected's wrist, a tattoo that marks a unique shape, the only of its kind. At least half of it.

The other half of the shape is on that person's soulmate's wrist, and when you get closer to your soulmate, it heats up. Farther away? Nearly frostbite. But with everything, there was a flaw in the system. When someone had two of these shapes, they had mendastomy. Mendastomy could be frustrating at times, but also rewarding. I, Becca Glass, have mendastomy. And this is my story.
