One pair of golden eyes follow the eldest swan through the parking lot. Ever since Alice's vision of the girl being their father's mate, Edward took it upon himself to look after her. He knew his adopted siblings, Rosalie and Emmett, were close with her. But for fear of ruining their friendship, he's kept quiet about what he knows. Only he and Alice know of the visions Alice has about their adoptive father, and the future they show with the eldest Swan girl.

The girl intrigues him, they way her mind seems to work much faster than others. The way her thoughts are written in a code only she can unscramble. Both of the Swan girls trouble Edward. Because while Melody's mind is a jumbled up mess he can't comprehend, Bella's is a complete and total blank space. Edward Cullen can't read their minds at all.

Feeling his stare, Melody waves at Edward, meeting his gaze. They smile at each other in a friendly manner, and she waves to the rest of the Cullens too. As Melody gets in her car to leave, Edward's brows furrow. He still can't read her mind, not like he can everyone else's.

Edward begins to wonder what that can mean. Melody confuses him beyond compare, and Edward's mind becomes clouded with questions about the girl. Normally all he can see is a big word search in her mind, with missing letters and randomly placed numbers. Almost like it was made to throw off someone like him, like her mind was built the deter those trying to sneak a peak in her mind.

Sensing his bewilderment, Jasper glances at his brother. He could feel the confusion and frustration spewing off of Edward and sent some calm his direction. Almost immediately Edward looks at his brother and thanks him, before gracefully getting in his Volvo; Alice and Jasper quickly following.

Across the lot, a confused Bella stares with furrowed brows. She is frustrated at the bronze haired Cullen boy, as he acted like she was repulsive in biology. She had been made partners with him but as soon as Bella sat down, Edward tensed up. A harsh glare was on his face, directed at the youngest swan. He held a harsh grip on the table and it upset Bella to no end. She can't quite place why she cares so much for the boy's opinion, or why she feels so drawn to him.

But unbeknownst to Bella Swan, Edward feels the same way about her.

Melody pull into the small driveway of the Black house. It isn't much, but its just the right size for the two boys that live there. Shutting off her car and exiting the vehicle, Melody sees Billy open the door with a big smile.

"Melody, come on in! The boys should be here soon." He opens the door wider for the girl, before rolling himself back a little ways.

"Hi Uncle Billy." Melody smiles at the kind man and enters the small house. After taking of her shoes and carefully setting them down next to the door, Melody reaches down and hugs Billy. He smiles and rolls himself into the kitchen, herself following close behind.

"Are you hungry? I can make something for you, and for when the boys get here." The swan girl begins to make her way past Billy.

"I'm sure the boys would love that." Billy smiles again, before rolling himself out of the room. The sounds of the tv are heard, explaining where he's gone off too.

Melody grabs some bacon and begins frying it on the stove, making sure to watch for the popping grease. Once she has half of the package fried, she grabs the eggs and begins scramble them. She then puts some bread in the toaster, making sure to keep a close eye on all of the food.

Just as Melody is finishing up, the door opens and excited voices are heard heading towards the kitchen. As always, Jake throws his bag sloppily on the floor and begins grabbing plates and drinks for everyone. Quil and Embry are already sitting impatiently at the table, arguing over who gets to sit next to their friend. Once Billy is sat at the table, all the food is served up on plates. everyone begins to dig in, happy to settle their growing stomachs.

After Quil helps with the dishes, while Jake and Embry do their schoolwork, Melody and the boys head out to the garage. Jake is working on an old car, while Quil and Embry obnoxiously play a game of slap jack.

"Have you worked on any drawings lately, Mel?" Jake asks, as he uses some type of wrench to tighten a part under the hood.

"Of course. But I haven't really found any inspiration for what I've been wanting to draw recently." He nods in understanding, throwing Melody a toothy grin before turning back to his task.

Melody used to draw all the time, going through so many notebooks it drove Charlie crazy. He was always buying her another one almost every week. Melody would draw anything and everything–the woods, the waves on the beach– whatever came to her mind was put on paper. Though she still draws a lot, it's not as much as it used to because she's looking for something special. Or rather certain beautiful things.

The things that blow in the breeze and sway with the cold chills at night. Flowers that are so uniquely beautiful that your heart skips a beat, because those are the best kind. Melody Swan wants to draw the beautiful flowers that are rare and uncommon. The kind that you don't see planted outside ones house, or find inside a flower shop. She wants to draw the beautiful marigolds, and primroses, the Chrysanthemums and the dahlias. The beautiful things that others don't seem to see.

"We could go to the beach!" Embry offers, grinning widely. Jake looks up at Melody for confirmation, a small smile tugging at his lips.

"What do you say?" Quil almost begging the pair to agree, as he bounces slightly in his toes. Melody pretends to think it over, then nods excitedly at the boys.

"Let's go!" Melody giggles, running past them and out the garage door. The boys chase her all the way there, not stopping as they all throw their shoes off to the side. Melody goes just far enough to where the water is barley kissing her ankles, sighing in content at the feeling.

The ocean has always been a calm place for Melody. It has become a place she can reflect on her life, and enjoy the piece and quiet. The beautiful blue waves calm Melody's nerves. Sometimes the ocean will even make her forget all about life, even if only for a moment.

"No. wait, guys!" Quil yells, "Sto–Ahh!!" Melody looks over at the boys after hearing a large splash. Jacob and Embry high five, as Quil pops his head back out of the water, laughing. "Not cool you guys."

Melody loves her friends more than anything in the entire world. And as she watches the waves kiss the sand on the beach, she hopes to God that nothing will ever get between them.
