Melody Swan has never missed one of Bella's birthday's. Even as kids, Melody made sure to find a way to celebrate her sister's birthday with her. And there is absolutely no way she's going to miss Bella turning 18, no matter what Edward says.

Melody Swan has control. Carlisle and Rosalie have been very adamant on making sure she's able to control herself, neither one leaving her by herself. Even Jasper is surprised by her ability to resist the smell of human blood, but Edward just has to disagree.

"For the last time, Edward, I'm not going to hurt her!" Melody finally snaps at the bronze haired boy. Since Bella arrived, Edward has been finding ways to keep the two sisters away from each other– even going as far as to spill Bella's drink all over Melody's dress.

"You're a newborn, and Bella is human." At Melody's glare, Edward slinks back slowly. "I'm just worried for her safety. Can you really blame me for that?"

Edward knows Melody has complete control over her urges now. He's been there every time she's been around people, her father included. But now that Bella's here, he can't help but be concerned about how much control the newborn has. Edward's doesn't want to risk finding out how fast Melody can break her concentration, and suck his mate dry.

"Edward, she's my sister. Please, just— just let me enjoy the time I have with her." Venom pools in Melody's eyes, and Edward lets out a long sigh.

"Okay." The brunette smiles happily and hugs Edward. He smiles at his friend, wincing as she bounces up to her sister and pulls her into a tight hug.

Bella gasps, "Can't. Breathe." When she begins to pat Melody's back, Melody pulls away sheepishly.

"Sorry..." The sisters smile at one another, before pulling each other into another hug. This one is softer, and it brings the kind of comfort only a sister can give. With her head in Bella's neck, Melody takes a deep breathe, taking in the entirety of her sister's scent. Edward and Alice tense up, glancing worriedly at the pair across the room, only to ease up once they see Melody isn't going to attack.

"I've missed you." Bella mumbles into her sisters neck, still refusing to let go of her. Bella's afraid that if she looks away, Melody will disappear and she'll be alone again. Because Melody is Bella's best friend, and not seeing her sister for the past few months has been almost unbearable.

"And I you." Melody pulls away slowly, taking in every detail of Bella's face. "Happy Birthday, Bells!"

The Cullens smile at the sisters, happy to see them both so ecstatic. And as Carlisle joins Melody's side, they see her light up at even more at the sight of him. This alone brings tears to Esme's eyes, because Carlisle has finally found the happiness that he deserves.

A flash goes off, Alice has snapped a picture of Bella with Edward. Bella looks at her disapprovingly, but the vampire just shrugs with a smug smile on her face. "I found it in your bag. You mind?"

Alice then turns away and seeing Carlisle caressing Melody's cheek lovingly, she snaps a picture. The flash goes off and the couple looks up shyly, pulling away from one another.

"Dating an older woman. Hot." Emmett moves to Edward's side and nudges him teasingly. Bella catches what the vampire says and she chuckles awkwardly. Edward elbows him sharply to tell him to shut up. "What?"

Rosalie steps up in front of Bella, shoving a silver package into her arms. "It's a necklace. Alice picked it out."

The blonde walks away bored, but smiling at Melody as she passes. Bella smiles hesitantly at Rosalie, before clearing her throat. The human girl sees Jasper across the room, and they wave to each other. Alice aims the camera back at Bella and Edward.
