Michelle felt her eyes slowly open, and the slight movement of her fingers caused them to crack. She looked around the room and was accompanied only by silence. She moved her head slightly, her neck protesting in pain, and looked down at her phone. She reached out an arm and tapped on the screen, bringing it to life and displaying the time. It's 4:32pm already? I've slept the whole day! She pushed herself up slowly from her pillow mound, her shoulders, back and neck still incredibly sore, however it didn't hurt as much as it had a few hours earlier.
Once she got herself to her feet, she went to the bathroom before deciding to go downstairs and find something to snack on. Slowly, she walked over to the elevator, her face hidden in a large hoodie, and made her way down to the lobby. The hallways were quiet, and so was the lobby. The only people she could see were some staff and elderly people. Makes sense that nobody's here. It's the perfect time to be out skiing and stuff. Some people may start coming soon. Is there a vending machine or something?
She looked around, and ended up walking into the dining room. It was completely deserted, but against the back wall was a table, covered in fruit, nuts and other various snacks. She walked over, licking her lips lightly, and peered down at what options she had. She grabbed a plate and started to pile it up with food. It was mainly covered in watermelon, but she also grabbed some pear, passionfruit and a banana. All this fruit looks so nice. I'll come back for some of the other stuff after.
She sat down at the same table as earlier and started to devour the fruit. After she finished all the fruit she got back up and grabbed some chocolates and a packet of crisps, as well as pouring herself a large glass of water. She went back to the table and picked at her food, feeling much more satisfied now that she had eaten. She sat in silence, thinking about random things or her favourite parts from books that she had read, and didn't even notice when voices started emanating from the lobby. She stared blankly at the table, her eyes unfocused and her face hidden under her hood. "MJ!"
She lifted her head up and looked at the doors to the dining room. For a second she thought she was looking at a strangely large but adorable puppy, but once she focused her eyes, she recognised it her be her boyfriend. Oh, they must be back. His hair was heavily dishevelled, most likely from wearing a beanie all day, and the smile on his face made it clear that he had a good day. He walked over, beaming at her. Ned loosely followed behind him, rubbing his backside with a pained expression. "Hey," Peter said, rather cutely in Michelle's opinion, as he sat down across from her.
She smiled at him, "Did you have a good day, little puppy?" She said like she was speaking to a cute dog. He raised an eyebrow but still had a smile on his face, "Huh?" She chuckled at him, "Nothing, the way you came over and sat down was just adorable." His smile widened, and his cheeks rose until his eyes disappeared. "Okay, well yeah. Today was really fun." Ned sat down beside him, and added "Mostly." Michelle looked at him, eyebrow raised. "What did you do?"
Ned sighed, rubbing his butt again. "Well, we started on the easy slope, and once we got good at that we decided to try the next hardest slope... It didn't go very well, I fell down and landed right on top of a rock." Michelle winced, able to guess how painful it would have been. She looked to Peter, "What about you? Did you get hurt?" Peter shrugged, "Well, at first I fell a lot, but eventually I got a hang of how to properly balance myself and I got quite good at it. I didn't have any problems on the intermediate slope, but when Ned fell, I did have to help him make it down to the bottom. We decided to stop after that, and just hung out down the bottom with Mr Harrington."
Michelle rolled her eyes. What did Mr Harrington do this time? "We got down and he had a massive red mark across his face. I don't know how but he managed to kick himself in the face with his ski's." Michelle snorted, and was relieved that she didn't feel as much pain in her neck when she did that than she had the last time. "So overall you had a good day?" Peter and Ned glanced at each other. "What?" Michelle asked, knowing immediately that something else had happened. Peter didn't keep her waiting in silence for long, "Evie showed up. And she was, well, Evie."
"So, she tried flirting with you again?" Peter nodded before shuddering, "She touched my arm multiple times. I don't think I've ever felt so uncomfortable in my life. Not only that, but she passive aggressively insulted Ned." Michelle shook her head, "I told you she was up to something." Peter looked at her cautiously, "You're not annoyed?" She shrugged, "Eh. I'm not worried about her 'stealing you away from me' or anything. But I'd definitely prefer if she just left us alone." Both of them agreed with her.
"Well, you'll be happy to hear that Peter and I fell a lot and got footage of it," Ned said. Michelle's eyes lit up, and a smile spread across her face. "Really? Can I see it?" Peter smiled at her obvious excitement. "Later, when we're back up in our rooms. Anyway, how are you feeling? What did you do today?" Michelle shrugged and rubbed her eyes, "I fell asleep as soon as I got back to my room, and I only woke up about an hour ago." Peter's eyes widened, "Really, you must have been really tired." She smiled softly, "Yeah, I was. My neck and stuff feel a little less tender though."
Both Peter and Ned smiled, simultaneously saying "Yay!" They sounded like little kids when they said that. All of a sudden, Michelle's brain whirred back to a memory of the three of them, when they first signed up for decathlon team and were in their first meeting. Ned was pretty much the same, but that couldn't be said for Peter. He was wearing his large, dorky glasses, and much, much skinnier than he was now. Wow, he's really filled out since he got his powers. Now he's, well... very, very nicely built.....wait what was I thinking about?
Michelle shook her head and tuned back into the real world. "It must have been the rest. Have you been drinking lots of water?" Peter asked her. She nodded, "Yeah." They hung down in the dining room for a little while, chatting, but eventually they decided to head back up to Ned and Peter's room so that they could look over the footage. Michelle walked slowly, but they both hung back with her so that she didn't feel like she was holding them up. Eventually they made it back up to Ned and Peter's room. Peter grabbed his GoPro from his backpack as Michelle lowered herself down onto his bed. Peter came over to sit beside her, and as he did his head perked up, looking at the door.
Michelle and Ned both immediately noticed his worried expression. "What?" Michelle asked quietly. Peter kept staring at the door, "I don't know. I just sensed some-" Before he could finish his sentence, a knock came at the door. Peter stood up and walked over to the door to look through the peephole. Ned and Michelle shared the same worried look with each other. They watched with unease as Peter looked through the peephole. Who could it be? Why did Peter sense it? Usually he only senses bad things. Peter stood back from the door and immediately put a finger to his lips, telling them both to be quiet. Ned looked at him with wide eyes and mouthed "Who is it?" at him. Michelle looked at her boyfriend, and felt slightly annoyed but not surprised when he mouthed back, "Evie." God, what now? Why can't she leave us alone?
