"shut up luke"
the next day, calum, carter and ashton all had horrible hangovers. mike of course locked himself in his bunk for the rest of the morning, probably playing his video games.
on the other hand, mikey and luke danced around in the tiny kitchen while listening to one direction (mostly fangirling every time zayn sang his high notes) and making pancakes because they were both in a pancake-y mood. it was just that kind of day.
earlier, luke had asked carter if he could take mikey out for a walk to the park, or maybe to a close coffee shop because they were both itching to get out of that damn tour bus. especially now that there were more than just the boys and the body guards around. now there's plus a kid and a lady.
dave thought that luke going out without a bodyguard (especially with mikey) was not a good idea, considering the fact that he couldn't really manage going out alone anyway. so off the three went, mikey 'safely' on top of lukes shoulders (she mentioned that there was enough space for her friend, jax) which luke took as a compliment.
their first destination was a local coffee shop. (just because luke really liked the smell of coffee) luke glanced at mikey, hoping to find hergazing at something she wanted, but she was glancing back at him, hoping to identify what he wanted so that she could ask for the same thing. luke, being smart and dorky and all, caught on, so he ordered something that they would both enjoy; smoothies. he ordered the healthiest ones in the menu. apparently, it was called 'mango spinach delight' and as soon as they took their first sips, they both cringed and threw the nasty things away. (even if they did cost luke a bit) dave ordered the same thing and he loved it. the lad was quite upset when he found out the two had wasted theirs.
the two wanted to venture out more, but they didn't know where to go. besides, the boys had to attend a show. they couldn't miss that one. they were guest stars on ellen and hell, they wouldn't miss the world for it.
luke had to think about it for a moment. they were actually pretty famous. interviews almost daily, front covers of magazines, guest stars on shows, meet and greets every so often. it was everything luke had ever dreamed of. except he didn't think everything would happen this fast. at this rate, he thought their careers would be finished before he turned twenty. doubts and nothing but doubts entered and caved inside of luke's head. yeah, he had a joyful little girl constantly around him to distract him and to keep him keen, but was that really enough?
---
after carter freshened up and took some pain relievers, she walked into the tiny kitchen and was quickly embraced by the sweet smell of pancakes. but there was something missing. the giggles and squeals of her daughter. carter knew she was out with luke and dave, but it was just odd and really, kind of eerie to be without mikey. the little girl was a bundle of happiness and without her around, carter felt like a bundle of complete shit. her daughter was her only shot at happiness. well, that was what she thought.
carter finally shook her head and tried to fill her loneliness by stuffing her face with pancakes. sure, she'd regret that later. probably gaining five pounds on the spot, but who gave a shit? she was surrounded by her little bundle of joy, her past lover and his best mates. if there was nobody to impress, there was nobody to disappoint.
michael walked in, startling carter from her little daydream. his hair was scruffy and the green hair dye he had was fading away, his hair turning back to blonde and carter didn't think she saw anything more beautiful in her life.
"what a fucking masterpiece"
she whispered, her face falling off of her palm for a second.
a small lopsided grin appeared on michael's lips.
"what was that?"
carter stuttered for a second, making michael's grin even wider.
"what were you about to s-"
"back off, pancakes are mine."
---
a few hours later, the three explorers, (mikey insisted on calling themselves that) came back from their little journey. the little girl strut into the room with a blue teddy bear (luke proudly picked the colour out). as soon as carter heard the cheery giggles from the front of the tour bus, she quickly stood up from her conversation with michael and speed-walked to the front of the tour bus where her daughter was. when mikey spotted carter, she backed away a bit into luke, the back of her head bumping into his groin. (yeah, he was that tall).
carter frowned, a crease appearing on her forehead.
"mikey come here please,"
carter tried to keep her tone of voice down, but her blood was starting to boil. still, mikey refused.
"can i stay with luke for just a little bit longer, ma? please?"
carter made eye contact with luke and he nodded while he bit his lip, his lip ring interfering in the process.
carter proceeded into the kitchen where she left michael and sighed as soon as she sat down. michael noticed her glumness.
"what's wrong?"
"mikey likes luke better than us."
that got michael's face red and his knuckles white.
when michael finally got a chance to prove to carter that he wasn't a careless bastard like he was back in high school, perfect old luke had to step in and ruin it for him. michael was confused and his thoughts were scattered, but he was sure of one thing,
not this time.
