(Hello my friends!! Happy new year to all of you, I hope that 2020 has treated you well. Some updates on me, I have a new laptop but all of my files on this story were lost, but I still have a good idea as to where I want to take this. I have started college, got a new girlfriend and things are really amazing right now. Enjoy this next chapter.)
Artemis POV: The Goddess felt a pang of sadness as she watched her most trusted follower topple to her side, unmoving. It was always a shame to lose a phenomenal warrior, but often a necessary sacrifice. Some people would even say that it's an "occupational hazard", demigods and hunters die quite often, so it would only make sense that the goddess was hardened, perhaps even numbed by the concept of her followers dying.
"Why Perseus? Why are you hunting us like animals?" quite an interesting choice of words for the goddess of the hunt, but they were quite fitting. His response was slow, like that of a madman. A thin smile started to creep onto his face as he nudged Thalias corpse with the tip of his boot.
"Why didn't you stop me?"
The goddess flinched slightly at the words, why hadn't she stopped him?
"What?"
He laughed harshly, the anger in his words biting into her.
"I came into your camp, slaughtered your hunters, and tell me oh mighty goddess. What did you do? You sat in your tent and listened as they cried for your help, and did you answer them? But of course not, 'it's not a gods place to interfere' to hell with that! you have all of this power yet you do nothing with it. You promise these girls a family, yet what kind of family has a mother that refuses to assist them during their greatest time of need? You gods are nothing but cowards." he spat, his words venom that stung at her heart and rang true in every way. Tears had begun to pool in her eyes as she realized the truth, but she had realized it a million years too late. Yet her pride could not allow a mortal to speak to her in such a fashion.
"Watch your tone demigod! My hunters are all aware of their potential demise." even to her the excuse sounded hollow.
He smiled wolfishly as he twirled Riptide in his hand.
"I'm going to take my time with you Artemis, the greatest liar of the Olympians."
She was done talking, she needed to strike, quick and deadly. She rapidly raised her bow, nocked an arrow, aimed and fired, her hands a blur as her arrow hit its mark, smacking Percy dead center in his chest. His body flying backwards from the sheer force of it into the ocean of tents.
Despite the knowledge that she had hit him, she had a feeling that her target was far from dead. She nocked another arrow and walked into the wasteland that was once her camp, her eyes scanning for movement as she navigated through the bodies of her former hunters.
Until suddenly the hero materialized between two tents, laughing maniacally as she shot on instinct and he disappeared as quickly as he had appeared, his voice echoing throughout the eerily silent encampment. A cold chill traveled through the goddesses spine, a feeling that hadn't been there in many years, and that feeling was fear.
