Chapter 8: Chaos in The Village

For the past few months, things started to get better for the two reptiles hybrids. I mean, they still feel awkward around each other but they stopped having awkward moments. They started to have more of a really-good-friends-kind-of-relationship then a slave-to-master-relationship. 

Eagleator started to bring Lilly to the village more often. Since she wasn't his slave anymore, so why not. When the villagers first saw Lilly, she was the biggest thing they gossiped about. "Who's this girl hanging around with Eagleator?" "Where did she come from?" They'd whispered among themselves. 

They even noticed how Eagleator had changed. He was always with Lilly whenever he was going out. Eagleator even started to be a little nicer than normal. Eagleator also grew very protective of Lilly as if she was his mate. 

He never really let anyone near Lilly or have a long conversation with her. He'd just say that they had to go and they'd go. Lilly didn't notice how clingy Eagleator been than normal. But Lilly did started to notice that she and Eagleator had a lot in common. 

They both liked hamburgers, they both loved flying, and they both even kinda like each other. No one would tell each other that, they were either to prideful or scared to tell one another. 

Eagleator started to get really handzy with Lilly. Like he would always lean on her and carry her around. Sometimes, Eagleator would randomly, unexpectedly hug Lilly a lot. 

Lilly was a little intrigued about him doing that at first. They may have been friends but Lilly still was afraid of him. She'd sometimes worry that he'd still do terrible things to her. That part of her she felt most disgusted about herself. 

But later on she did end up getting used to it. But she still felt uneasy. The more Eagleator got to know Lilly, she wasn't this shy, quite girl like he thought. She was a very sassy, independent, lady. She almost never needed help with anything, she wasn't the one who would give up so easily, and she was the only one (other than Hawkodile) that could tolerate Eagleator's rudeness. 

Eagleator even started to notice that she didn't act like a child anymore but was quite more mature now. No one paid attention or gave her a chance when she was back at home, but with Eagleator, she finally got all of his attention to herself. 

Now I know how Hawkodile feels with his wimpy friends. Eagleator thought to himself. Eagleator did feel like he was the muscles of the duo. And he did feel that it was his job to protect Lilly with his life. 

One day they were walking through the village. (It's a date) There was no reason, they were just spending the day out. (It's definitely a date!) The village sure was busy that day. People were pushing pass each other as they all got to where they needed to be. 

Lilly tried her best to hide behind Eagleator as they walked through the busy village. Lilly grabbed onto Eagleator's arm. She tried to keep up with him As the two of them walk pass one of the stands, Lilly noticed a group of suspicious bird tiles eyeing them. 

They were the kind of bird tiles that had scars on them and had boxing gloves like Eagleator. She noticed that one of them had a scar going down from his neck, all the way up to his forehead. 

Thankfully, Eagleator noticed him too. He started to guide Lilly a little bit further away from them. As he did this, the gang started to walk towards then. Eagleator nervously walked a little faster.

"What's wrong?" She whispered to him. There was no response, Eagleator just kept walking away from the group of bird Tiles. He started to make random turns on streets and alleyways, until it was just the two of them, alone in the alleyway. 

"Who are those guys?" Lilly asked. Eagleator looked at her. "Let's just say I know them." He said as he looked around nervously. "Do you owe those guys something?" Lilly asked him. 

Before he could answer, he was interrupted by someone who was behind him. "Well, it's been years since we met." Eagleator turned around and saw the scar-faced bird tile standing there. Eagleator glared at him. He did his best to keep Lilly directly behind him at all times.

"It's strange to see you without that orphan kid. He was the one who gave me this, right?" He pointed to his huge scar. Eagleator shook his head and chuckled. "No, he was the one who broke your arm. I was the one who gave you that." He replied. 

"Well," the bird tile said. "More reasons for me to hate you." Eagleator glared at him. "What do you want, Dragowle?!" Eagleator rolled his eyes. "I want a rematch with you and that orphan freak." Dragowle barked. Eagleator started to back up. 

"Well, Hawkodile isn't here and fighting you is a waste of my time," Eagleator said. "Oh really?" He said. Then out of nowhere, the gang of bird Tiles came out from behind him, surrounding the two misfit reptile hybrids.

"Let's see about that." Dragowle said as they circled around them. Eagleator grabbed on to Lilly. He did not want her apart of this. This was his fight and his fight alone. "Oh please! You couldn't take down a sparrow you idiot!" Lilly shouted at Dragowle. "SHUT UP!!" Eagleator whispered/shouted at Lilly. 

"What a fine gal you have, Eagleator." Dragowle said as he mostion his gang to come in closer. "Too bad she can't keep her mouth shut." He said as drew out his weapon and mostion the gang to start circling around them. 

Eagleator was to busy keeping track of his circling enimis while Lilly on the other hand, noticed a small gap in between two of the bird tiles. If she could make it past them, she could run and get help. She paid attention for an opportunity. 

On she found a chance, she bolted for it. It was easy for her because she was small and she had wheels on her feet so she was fast enough. Once she was passing them, one of them grabbed her hoodie. 

She fell flat on her back. She expected to be done for until she heard one of them yelled in agony. She heard them all start rushing towards the wounded one. Then everything went so fast. There was a lot of yelling and screaming.

She felt someone pick he up and run with her. She knew it was Eagleator who was carrying her. They pushed past the people in the crowd. "Hey, get back here!" Dragowle yelled. The next thing she knew, they were flying. The two of them didn't speak the whole flight.
