By the time Luke got home it was half past 12 and like always all he wanted to do was eat some food and sleep. But that was never the case. He would get to the kitchen, choose some sort of junk food to eat, take it to the couch and then pass out. It was just how it was.
......
"Luke? Luke you fell asleep on the couch again. Luke get up," Luke's mum said to him, loudly at that.
"I don't wanna," Luke groaned rolling over.
"Luke you're on the couch again. You can't keep doing this," she said, trying to pull the blanket he had slept under off of him.
"Mum," Luke whined, "I just want to sleep. I didn't get home until like 12:30 and then didn't sleep until 1 because I had food. and now I just want to have more than 6 hours sleep."
"Luke. It's 1pm not 7am. Now get your butt off this couch and clean up the mess that should be your bedroom," she demanded, pulling him off the couch and storming away.
"I'll get up!" he called, "eventually."
"That's it mister! I'm going to count down from 5 and if you're not in you bedroom cleaning, you know what will happen!" She yelled from the kitchen, the sound of water just under her loud voice.
Luke did know what would happen. It had happened before. If he didn't get up in those 5 seconds his mum gave him, she would come with a bucket of ice cold water and pour it all over him. Last time it took him weeks to clean the couch.
"5!" she yelled, "4-"
"I'm up! I'm up! I'm up!" He cut her off, running to his bedroom and leaving the blanket laying on the floor.
"Next time Luke! I promise you that," She laughed passing his bedroom and seeing he was throwing things into his laundry basket like he was looking for a bomb.
"And you call yourself motherly," he mumbled.
"You have work today remember. So don't sass me and I'll drive you there," she laughed again closing his door and throwing him a plastic bag.
"Just how I want to spend my Saturday," he muttered laying on his floor and trying to sleep.
"Up!" his mother called, knowing he was trying to sleep, "that boy will be the death of me..."
......
Just how he wanted his day to go. So far he had missed his extra hours of sleep due to his mother. Simon had decided that he wouldn't go home last night; resulting in Luke walking in to find a half naked 50 year old man lying in his office with some sort of weird porno playing in the background.
"All I want to do is crawl into a ball and sleep for eternity," Luke said to himself as he put his head in his hands.
"No one comes in her anyways kid. May as well," Simon told him as he walked towards the front door, "Look up for me. I'm gonna go home and drink away all my problems."
He threw Luke his keys before walking out of the shop and stumbling his way to his car.
"Of course I'll lock up Simon. Because I have nothing else to do. Ever."
