(Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation became fabulous.)
Being the best friend of the Fire Nation prince had its perks. After a chance meeting with Zuko when they were just toddlers, they instantly became friends. It was when she was five years old that she realised he was actually the prince but it didn't change their friendship. When she was 7, alone and without food, he managed to convince his mother to hire her at the palace and she had been working there ever since. She wasn't paid in money but she had a roof over her head, food to eat, clothes on her back and a great friend. Not only that, she had an identity to her name - Lyra.
But as much as there were pros, there were also just as many cons. Probably the biggest was Zuko's sister. Although Lyra had learned how to deal with Azula, she was still a complete and utter nightmare. Other than that, being Zuko's best friend meant being the one to take all the yelling and shouting and having to listen to all of his frustrations and complaining about restoring his honour. But even through all his anger, he was grateful she had joined him on his quest. She was the only one he could be himself with, even being able to smile. She somehow managed to do it. But as more time went on, the less he smiled.
Still, Lyra would take it all. Both she and Uncle Iroh were his psychiatrists. Whenever Uncle Iroh was busy playing Pai-sho, she would be there to keep him from doing something stupid. And right now she wished she could stop him from going into the icy waters of the south pole because she was freezing her ass off.
When she joined him on his quest, she never thought of packing warm clothes. She had warm-ish clothes but nothing warm enough for ice. Plus she wasn't a firebender either so she couldn't keep herself warm. She wore her red, long sleeved top with darker red coloured harem pants and black shoes with the pointed tips. Making her way out of her quarters, she made her way up to the deck of the ship. The closer she got to the outside, the more violent her shivering became. Wrapping her arms around herself, she mentally cursed Zuko and braved exiting onto the deck. There she found Uncle Iroh playing some sort of game whilst Zuko stood towards the front of the ship, looking ahead with deep focus.
"Why are we even here?" Lyra questioned aloud as she plonked herself near Iroh to try to keep herself warm. She shuddered from the icy chill and cuddled more into his chubbiness. "It's so cold!"
Iroh chuckled heartily but kept his eyes on his game. "Yes, but when was the last time you saw this much ice in one place? You should appreciate the beauty of the world we live in. We would never see anything like this in the Fire Nation."
As much as she loved his words of wisdom, she was too cold to appreciate them at that moment. "But it's freezing!"
Zuko looked back at her over his shoulder with a scowl on his face. "That's why I told you to stay inside!"
She glared back at him. "It's still cold inside, fool. The ship's made of metal so it's cold in my quarters, too."
"It's warmer than out here. I lit up the torches in your room."
"I know, but I wanted to hang out with you guys," she said with a sweet smile at the end.
Zuko rolled his eyes and turned back to looking ahead of the ship. "Then stop complaining," he sighed before whispering, "dork."
"I heard that!"
"Good. You were meant to."
