Why do people always love what they couldn't have?

Arthit's breath hitched when he realized that it applied to him as well. Feeling sick in his stomach, he placed a reassuring hand on Kongpob's shoulder. He wasn't sure what to say to make the other feel better but he was going to try anyway, even if it was going to make himself miserable. "If the girls in here heard what you just said... they'll be devastated. Let's hope they'll never find out about your P'Oon, okay?"

Arthit patted Kongpob's shoulder before smiling at him, turning around to walk back down the steps.

"P'Arthit..." Kongpob held him back, his grip tight on Arthit's wrist. "Do people often tell you that you're really slow?"

"Huh?" Arthit blinked, recalling how every one of his ex-girlfriends had said the same thing to him before they promptly dump him.

"See what I mean?" Kongpob sighed, releasing him and skipped down the steps, brushing past Arthit. He turned around to face the senior who was still standing on the bleachers when he landed on the ground. "For people who don't know you, they'll think that you're such a cool and attractive guy. In reality, you're anything but that. You're insensitive, blunt, careless and are always making rash decisions."

Arthit could only stare at the junior, his brain trying to understand what he was told. Kongpob's view on him was pretty on point — he knew he always speaks before he thinks, inconsiderate, forgetful and quick-tempered. But having the junior listing it out to him like that felt like he just got punched in the gut, and it made him feel pathetic.

He'd fucked up, hadn't he? Now Kongpob was angry at him for mentioning P'Oon and he's lashing it out on him. Was Kongpob disappointed in him, too?

"P'Arthit's personality—"

Arthit dropped his gaze, preparing himself to hear the same thing all his ex-girlfriends had said, your personality is disappointing.

"—is really likable."

Ba-thump.

Arthit's eyes widened at the words Kongpob uttered. He blinked, wondering if he'd misheard and he knew he didn't when he tilted up his head to see the junior staring at him. He blushed and felt a sudden rush of emotions coursing through him. It was the first time somebody had told him that his personality was likable — that it was okay to be himself, to stay as who he was.
