So, a few times in the show, it's been said (or implied) that Danny and Linda got married in '99. Other times, it seems like it was '96. The official Blue Bloods wiki says they "likely got married in the fall of '96". Going off that, here are the canons.
Canon: Jack was born around fall 2000. Sean was born sometime 2003. Linda and Danny were married '96. Why did they wait four years to have a baby??
Non-Canonical: answer? They had trouble getting pregnant, for whatever reason. Because by '96, they would both have steady careers. Danny had been a police officer for a year, and Linda had been earning money as a nurse since college. They would've had enough money to start a family as soon as, it very quickly after, they got married.
My theory is they had trouble. Or maybe Linda had a miscarriage??
The timeline on Blue Bloods is one of the worst timelines ever. I think Erin's turned 40 twice; Joe was the oldest, then he wasn't; birthdays are almost nonexistent; nobody really knows when Lindanny got married, or when Danny was in Iraq..... seriously, Blue Bloods. We need some concrete dates!!
