Canonical: Linda's siblings (and presumably her parents) suck
Non- canonical: she grew up in an abusive house hold. Her family verbally abuses her, and her dad sometimes hits her. She doesn't know real love until she meets and starts dating Danny.
I've seen other fanfic writers who have the same headcanon, which makes me glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.
