I waited for James to come into the corridor, and when he finally did he gave me the look of worry. James motioned me to sit on the floor, so I sat down.
"Okay Zane, I can tell you are a mess. What kind of motive do you think Bethanie could have had to kill Edwardo?" asked James.
"To be honest, I do not know what would have driven her to kill Edwardo. When we left school yesterday, she was completely fine. We came to work, and she was fine there too." I replied," Bethanie has always been the sweetest person I know."
"So, has Bethanie ever talked about killing someone?" asked James seriously.
"Not that I am aware of." I replied strongly.
"Okay, well I am concluding the investigation for today. Since you are off tomorrow come to the station and watch us interview Bethanie, but before we let you watch, my boss Trish, will have to interview you." explained James," For now, go to the will meeting and see who he left everything too. Also, do not tell anyone what you know about this case until we announce it to the community."
"Okay I will and I definitely won't, thanks for letting me help in the interview process!" I replied as I walked back into the dining room.
Everyone in the dining room was staring at me, and they were all angry with me. They were all waiting to be told to go home, and hadn't been told that yet. Moments after I walked into the dining room, Edwardo's wife came into the building. You could tell she had been drinking, She was a short woman with blonde hair and green eyes. She was wearing a designer dress that was covered in water stains, and she was stumbling around the building. I walked over to her.
"Good Afternoon Jessica, I'm sorry for everything that happened today." I said to her softly.
"I'm sure you are Zane, I mean, I am also sure you played a hand in it." she replied as she sat down at the table in front of the cash register.
I sat down at a table, and pulled out my cellphone. I had eight missed texts from Taylor about how she hated her new job, and wished she would have gotten a job with Bethanie and I. I wished I could have told her what was going on, but I wasn't allowed too.
I sat down at the table for probably 15 minutes before the lawyer came into the building and set up a station behind the counter, and was ready to start business. Moments later, James came into the room.
"Before Mr. Jones gets started, you guys are free to go. If you guys want to stay and see who he left things too, you are more than welcome, but you guys are no longer suspects in the murder." said James as he turned and walked back out of the room.
"Good afternoon everyone! I am John Jones, and I was Mr. Mitchell's lawyer. Before we get started, are there any questions?" asked Mr. Jones.
The room remained quiet for a few moments. Jessica finally spoke up.
"Mr. Jones, since I am sure he left everything to me, do these criminals have to be here?" asked Jessica.
"Jessica, I know you are upset, but I have been with Edwardo longer than you have. I'm sure he left something for me too." replied Josh," so please quit calling us all criminals."
Jessica shot Josh an evil look and then looked at the lawyer and smiled. The lawyer grabbed the first file off the desk and opened it. He looked worried.
"Okay, so he changed his will a couple months ago. If you were supposed to get something before you might not now. Let's begin. Edwardo had 3 million in his bank account. This is spread across his savings and his checking account. He has split the money to go to two different people." explained the lawyer," 1 million goes to Jessica Mitchell, the wife of the diseased. 1/2 a million goes to Josh Dally, his general manager, and 2 million goes to Zane Maddox."
Josh smiled. We all knew he hated Jessica, and she was cheated out of most of the money. Jessica got out of her seat and butted me with her shoulder as she walked by me. She walked up to Mr. Jones and slammed her hands down on the table.
"You mean to tell me that he left all of his money to them?" asked Jessica," Zane doesn't deserve anything from him! He is part of the murder!"
"Ma'am with all due respect, I need you to sit down before I call the police to come in." replied Mr. Jones.
Jessica rolled her eyes and turned back around and went back to her seat. Mr. Jones grabbed another folder off the table and proceeded.
"The house was left to Jessica Mitchell. His vehicle, a 2018 Ford Fusion, was left to Zane Maddox. His beach house, was also left to Zane Maddox. The restaurant, Edwardo's Pizza, was also left to Zane Maddox. Here is where it gets interesting. Zane only gets 3/4ths of the restaurant. Josh Dally gets a fourth of it so the restaurant can continue to sell alcohol." explained Mr. Jones, " Anything that was not listed in the documents I have looked over is left to Jessica Mitchell. I have each of the people a paper to take with them to get all of the stuff that was left for them. If there are any questions the three of you can come see me now. We are done."
Jessica got up and started walking towards the table Mr. Jones was sitting at. I got up and decided to follow her. When i got up to the table she ripped the papers out his hands. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and began recording her.
'This isn't right. He shouldn't have left anything to anyone else. It should have all gone to me! That's why he got murdered!" screamed Jessica,' I knew how much he had in his account, but he wouldn't let me have any of it!"
Jessica ran out of the building crying, and I pulled my phone back out of my pocket. I stopped recording, grabbed the paper of things Edwardo left me, and walked into the kitchen. I layed the paper down and dialed 911, where I asked to speak to James.
