The next few days went exactly the same for Cynthia, she got to speak to Mari a lot and was never noticed by the guy. This harmony was disrupted however when all the staff were called for a meeting.

The whole crew of day workers were gathered around the coffee table in the centre of the room. The manager stood at one end with Mike to the right of him. Cynthia tried as hard as she could not to male any awkward eye contact with him or the other worker who'd saved her life. "Okay crew!" The manager chirped. "As you may be aware we're running a bit low on staff at the moment, this also includes the nightshift." "Oh boy, I can see where this is going." The Scottish girl next to Cynthia whispered. "So, we need one person to volunteer as an assistant night watch." The manager continued. "Any volunteers?" Everyone in the room looked at their shoes and shuffled their feet. Mike rolled his eyes and crossed his tanned, toned arms. "Don't all jump up at once." The manager sighed. "If no one volunteers then I'll have to draw names out of a hat for every night." The whole room gasped slightly and everyone collectively widened their eyes. "Thought as much..." The manager sighed to himself. Cynthia looked at Mike. She couldn't tell if he was looking at her through his sunglasses but she knew she had to do it. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and raised her hand. The whole room went silent, Eva's face contorted into an angry glare and Mike's sunglasses fell onto the floor revealing a pair of shocked jade eyes. His jaw dropped and he shook his head. "Bu..bu..bu.." He started but was interrupted by the manager. "Great! Speak to Mike afterwards, he'll get you all you need and tell you the basics. I'm sure he'll make you feel right at home, won't you Mike." He just responded by picking up his sunglasses and silently slipping them back on, never breaking eye contact with Cynthia.

That night Cynthia stayed behind and shut up after checking all the rooms for any stragglers. She checked her watch. 11:37. "Where on earth is Mike?" She thought. "What if he's left, what if this is all a ploy to get me to work instead of him?!" Just as she was starting to panic sure heard Mike. "What on earth are you doing, get over here." She proceeded to run down the corridor and stood awkwardly while Mike pushed the monitors up to the air vents, trying to look anywhere but at his slightly tight jeans showing his sculptured butt. Mike got up and pulled out the swivel chair. "Sit." he commanded. "Oh, no i really couldn't, you wouldn't have anywhere to sit." She replied. His eyebrows lowered and he stared at her. She slowly sat down, and looked down at her flashlight. "Please say you brought your batteries." He said judgingly. Cynthia's eyes widened and Mike sighed. "I'll take that as a no, it's alright, you can have my spares but you have to use it sparingly for gods sake." She looked down into her lap and nodded. Cynthia felt like a schoolgirl being told off by the teacher. Mike pinched the bridge of his nose with two fingers and sighed. "You can see how stressful this job can make someone." "Surely they can't be that bad, can they?" She replied nervously, and Mike scoffed. "Sure, now, you remember everything i told you?" Cynthia nodded. "Okay then, i'm gonna go use the restroom before they get too active. Watch the monitors." He said, walking off into the dark corridor. Cynthia sank in her chair and looked around for the tablet. It wasn't there! She panicked and rummaged around the desk, flipping papers and even over turning the fan. She couldn't find it anywhere. It was then that she got an idea. Cynthia reached for the power outlet and flicked it on, all the monitors lit up and she could see every room in the building, excluding the staff area and inside the bathrooms. She looked at the stage and shrieked quietly, Chica had gone, her eyes flicked through the cameras but she was nowhere to be found. She flicked her flashlight on and her blood ran cold, there, at the end of the hallway was a tall red furred robot fox.

She screamed and stared at the motionless creature, it's head tilted and it squinted as if it recognized her. She stared at it long and hard and for a moment all the fear slipped away. Cynthia lowered the flashlight slightly causing the creature to move closer a few steps, suddenly she snapped into action and screamed at the top of her lungs. The robot put its hands up and tried to speak, but the words came out as a series of "D.d. de...d." Cynthia shone the light in it's eyes and it yelped. "No wait De...System reboot, Aaaaaar sorry lads an lasses but ol' Foxy needs to go backstage for a rest." It whirred in an automated voice, before turning around and walking away. Cynthia's head pounded as if she'd just been hit in the face. " F,f,ff foo." She muttered. "Fox..." Before she could finish she was tackled to the ground by a yellow creature. It was Chica, although this time, she was different. Her eyes were black and soulless and instead of a beak she had a gaping hole with a set of creepy teeth. "Where is he!?" She screeched. "Who?" Cynthia croaked, clawing at the hand around her throat. "Mike!" Chica replied, tightening her grip. "I saw you talking to one of the freaks! They brought this upon themselves. They will know the joy of creation, they will know!" Chica's voice was a lot higher and robotic now than her normal sweet voice. "Those walking spare parts don't deserve to be in the presence of us. We are the chosen, we are the...." Just then a flashlight swung out of nowhere and smacked Chica across the side of the face. Mike threw her over the table and put his foot on her so she couldn't move. He then proceeded to shine the flashlight in her eyes and lifted her up, before letting her wander in a dazed state back to the stage. He then pulled Cynthia up. "You alright?" He asked, sounding concerned. (Which surprised and confused Cynthia, causing her to blush slightly.) "Uurm yeah, i'm fine." His tone changed into a more angry one. "Why didn't you wear the mask, you could've died!" "I. I was distracted." "Well, don't be! I don't know what i'd do if..." He trailed off. "Ahem, well let's just get through the night shall we?"

Cynthia's eyes opened slowly. She sat up but hit her head against something, it was the bottom of the desk. She looked down and noticed Mike's jacket was thrown over her loosely, she also noticed his hat was crumpled where her head had been resting on it. There was a slight gasp when Cynthia hit her head and she turned to see Mike's legs, he bent down so they were eye level and smiled very slightly. "Good, you're awake. You fell asleep at around two, i guess doing the day shift and night shift must be pretty exhausting huh." Cynthia nodded, wiping her eyes. "It's just turned 6, all the robots have switched to day mode, you go if you want, i'll just finish up here." She got up, still wearing the jacket and walked out with it around her like a cloak, not realizing she still had it. She walked past the main stage and out the doors, not noticing the now attached green eyes staring at her, filled with envy.
