Cynthia sat on the patio area with a confused look on her face. Eva had seemed pretty angry over the phone and she couldn't afford to lose the only friend she had, apart from Mike, but he was different. She nibbled on a bread stick from the bread basket and checked her phone. Nothing. Meanwhile Eva sprinted through the halls of the pizzeria and had now excited the building and was running as fast as she could, her eyes streaming with tears which she tried to wipe away but to no avail. Cynthia couldn't know, not now, not yet. She needed to remember everything slowly, so as not to hurt her too much all at once. Eva sniffed more at this thought and ran faster than before.
Cynthia and the few people on tables around her jumped slightly when the door flew open and Eva hurried to her table, she had wiped her mascara off by now and finished crying. Before Cynthia could even ask what was going on Eva interrupted her. "You can't get with Mike." She put simply. "Wait what? Why not?!" Cynthia was starting to get confused by Eva's sudden dislike towards Mike and with confusion came irritation. Eva sat down and put her head in her hands, ruffling her short black hair. She sighed and looked over at Cynthia, teary eyed. Cynthia put her hands in Eva's. "What's the matter?" "Forgive me, i have not had much sleep these past few days. I must warn you though please stay away from Mike." She abruptly wiped her eyes, stood up and tucked her chair in. She bowed slightly and hurried off. "Eva!" Cynthia shouted, worried for her friend.
Eva ran into the pizzeria and collapsed. She looked up and saw him. Balloon Boy. She pulled herself towards him and stared at his face long and hard. His face remained happy, his big blue eyes staring blankly out. His smile cheerful but empty. Eva's eyes welled up again. She wrapped her arms around him and pressed her nose against his, before slumping and resting her head against his shoulders. Through all the pain, tears and anguish three words managed to slip from her mouth.
"I miss you."
