"I had sent out a party of my most trusted and experienced enforcers out long ago to quell what I and another student of the cosmic power had sensed far below in the depths of the Hamlet, personally I wished to go myself however having only recently undertaken adventuring the expedition would've likely spelled my doom or worse yet, decline into the abyss of cosmic power.
I write this letter as a last will, for they have not yet returned and I fear for their safety. Though there are no other enforcers as skilled as them in the art of quelling the darkness I feel it is my duty as the heir to finish with what my predecessor had started so long ago. With me are some trusted allies, an abomination known as Sturges, a shield breaker named Nasria and a Vestal maiden known as Mercia. This ill-experienced retinue is necessary if I wish to make it to the entrance of the forsaken portal rumoured to lead to the very abyss in which these dark creatures lay dormant. If I do not return after 4 days this letter will be delivered onto you, Otto, I hope you still breathe as it reaches you. Ruin has come to our family, and my work to rebuild the Hamlet so far have been continually blocked and slowed by the very foundations on which the Halmet lays on, I've succeeded in clearing a majority of the Hamlet, what little work remains is left to you cousin."
The heir sighed as he placed his seal onto the letter, leaving it in the table for all to see. Hurriedly he gathered his gear before making a mad dash for the stage coach.
There he called upon the services of the trusted retinue. With this small party of personal guards, Darric made his way into the depths of the ruins deep below the manor itself. He had mapped out paths and shortcuts long ago, allowing him to traverse the damnable terrain with relatively low interference at first. However as he crept deeper and deeper he encountered more resistance in the form of corrupted cultists and creatures from the abyss itself.
Eventually however, the band reached the gateway wounded but unbroken. He rushed forth into the gateway without a second glance, there he saw what was happening. His experienced retinue was fighting a massive twisted entity which beat like a living heart.
One of the party members, a leper, laid dead on the ground with a massive gaping hole in the middle of his chest, not even the well forged plate of steel could stop whatever abominable attacks the monstrosity dished out.-Darrics POV-
The beast came forth with another strike, this time aimed at the veteran crusader Reynauld but just in time a powerful glow struck the monsters eyes, stunning it and allowing Reynauld to avoid certain doom.I looked at the Vestal, now charging blindly with her mace towards certain doom, I went to stop her but chains wrapped around her as the abomination pulled her back. Signing in relief, I stepped forth, muttering words in a language long forgotten and with it the wounded party saw their injuries seal, however several of them became afflicted with blight due to this. Dismas stepped forth, firing off a shot point-blank, he pushed himself back as the shieldbreaker came in with a mighty thrust of her trusty spear. That's when I saw him, an apparition of my ancestor who invited me to this damnable place.
Ancestor: And so you arrive, Darric, come to finish what I started?
Heir: Back to the abyss where you belong beast, I've no intention of stirring your awakening.
Ancestor: It is an inevitability dear Darric, I am only speeding it up.
Heir: You're a damned traitor, look at what you've done to our noble name just because you grew fucking tired of the same old carnal pleasures!
Ancestor: I've been blind to the truth of flesh, it is fluid to be changed, reshaped, remade!
I could only growl, I sent forth an array of mighty abyssal blows towards the beating monstrosity, as it covered the twisted joke it called a face I rushed it with my sabre, delivering a mighty fire from my holy blade.
-3rd person POV-
The heart radiated a dark energy, swallowing anything near it, the Heir was about to be sucked in as the abomination sent forth its chain, he held on for dear life.
With no choice left he spoke an incantation his predecessor had made for travel to a completely different world, or even universe.
He knew damn well this could backfire to kill him and all his enforcers, however it was either this or doom at the hands of an entity so vast that a human mind would go mad by gazing upon it, and so he spoke the unholy words:
"Sijy py odywm gav, wijy zmawy voraflv py, xe aooyr ph asl kdaav alza haf!"And with that, he and his party escaped in a flash of crimson red.
They all woke up in a large crimson red forest, with temperate weather it looked as if the forest was forever in a state of fall.
The heir looked down onto his abdomen, seeing a massive wound gushing a river of blood from it, he fell unconscious.
