༉˚*ೃ ᵒ⁴. 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐒!

𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐒 famously known for throwing house parties. Carrie had learned from a young age that his parents were rarely around—which Carrie knew affected him much more than he'd ever let on, and had contributed to just about all his insecurities over the past years, but it didn't really make her hate him any less. Perhaps, in retrospect, it might have. The only upside to this was that to help him be not so lonely (a well-kept secret of his), he was the student body's number one provider of weekend parties which involved everyone getting really smashed and often passing out on the street.

Now, Steve's house parties had never been anything Carrie had been invited to—nothing after his childhood birthday parties where they drunk orange juice instead of alcohol—but it didn't matter because she still got the privilege of listening to them every bloody time. Steve never failed to play his music incredibly loud, and with Carrie just next door, she was constantly forced to listen to drunken singing, shouting, and splashing about in his pool every other weekend. It drove her insane, but the police in Hawkins were not going to come out every single weekend for a noise complaint, and Carrie wasn't a snitch, so she was stuck with it.

Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't hate Harrington's guts, but there was that too.

This night was no different, even though it was a school night. The music had started at around seven and showed no sign of stopping anytime soon. She'd seen Nancy and Barb enter the house early on, and Tommy and Carol much earlier than that, so no doubt they were already getting drunk off their faces. Carrie also had the pleasure of having her bedroom overlook her backyard and the woods beyond—which also meant that if she had her windows up she got a view into Harrington's yard and his giant pool. So, every now and then while Carrie was listening to music on her bed and trying to study at least a little, she would catch a flash of the whole gang drinking and partying. It was incredibly irritating.

Gleeful screams erupting from next door startled Carrie from where she was sprawled out amongst school notes, and Carrie Annsley glanced over to watch Nancy Wheeler get thrown into the Harringtons' heated pool. There was a loud splash as she became submerged, before Steve leapt in right after her. Poor Barb just sat at the edge in a deckchair and watched as Tommy and Carol followed them. At the scene, Carrie simply rolled her eyes and returned to writing out some Chemistry notes. She was sure she was going to fail anyway, but Carrie didn't really have anything else she could do. Carrie didn't really have anything she liked to do. Maybe she'd liked photography before her mother's disappearance, but that was Before. Carrie didn't really enjoy anything, now.
