"Maria,it's important can you open the door please."Sam knocked on the door hoping for a response.
"I'm coming give me a minute I have something on the stove." Maria replied then she came to the front porch to speak to him.
"Are you stalking me Sam,how do you know where I live?" Maria said with a straight face.
"Haha Maria don't be silly you and Chris use to throw the biggest house parties here every year. "Sam said.
Maria replied embarrassingly, "Oh I almost forgot about that,but what do you want kid?"
"I wanted to know if you can please be a witness against my accident I had months ago. "Sam desperately asked whilst she stood twisting her hair thinking of a decision.
"Now why would I do that? "She responded.
" I now remembered that its Chris who struck me with his vehicle and you and his friends was in the vehicle the time of the incident."he said.
Maria knew that she had to do the right thing but she still loved and respected Chris even though they weren't together anymore.
"Here's what,I'll be your witness but only under one condition."she said.
" What's the condition? "He asked.
" Promise me that you'll work towards your dream and become successful one day. "Sam was shocked by her response, he thought she might have told him to take out her trash or something.
"Listen kid,to be honest I had already known of your situation and guilt had troubled me everyday.I'm sorry that I didn't say anything sooner please forgive me. "She felt extremely sorry for Sam and had decided to confess to the police what Chris did.
"Maria it's cool,I accept your apology and thanks for assisting me." Sam said and they both went to the police station.
They spoke to a very polite police officer who assisted them. "Well young man and young lady,I'm going to need evidence proving that Chris was the one who struck you."
At that moment Maria did something that she never thought she'll do,and she showed the cop the voice recording and played it."That's my girl,now you and the others must not tell the cops or anyone in authority, that I was the one who struck Sam Peterson with my vehicle." said Chris on the recording.
"Well that's all the evidence that we need,he'll be arrested tonight and placed on trial for attempted murder." said the cop.
Maria walked out the police station with her eyes red from crying. "Thanks again Maria ,I really needed justice." Sam told her.
"Its the least I can do,I'm sorry that you had to be bullied for so long from him."Maria said as she hopped into her vehicle and drove home.Maria was a bit nervous ,but she was thankful that she got guilt off of her mind.She even got through with a job as a flight attendant and that's how she's able to pay her bills lately.
*At Chris house*
"Hello officer how can I help you." said Mr.Lewis as he spoke to a cop on his front porch.
"Is Chris Lewis home?" responded the officer.
"Yes he is,but is it about the speeding ticket because he was going to pay it next month?" Mr.Lewis said nervously.
"Oh you will wish it was a speeding ticket,he's arrested for attempted murder." said the cop sternly.
"Oh no,my boy could never commit such act,he's a star football player in school and thats it." said Mr. Lewis.
"Sir step to the side we have permission to search your premises for the young man." said the officer angrily.
"Chris my son,please run the cops are after you." Mr.Lewis foolishly shouted.
