Peter's POV:
That night I fell asleep almost instantly, I apparently was tired enough to not even notice when May came back home. It was one of those rare days I slept peacefully from the begging. Sadly, it didn't last the whole night. At some point, I dont know when, my dreamless rest started showing... something:
Everything was black and silent when suddenly all I heard was fire, roaring, explosions, metal... I could only hear fighting, then I was covered in dust and the smell of it started suffocating me. In a matter of seconds I went from darkness to 'that day'.
All I wished to do was get out of there before I saw the rest.
There was people everywhere, coming from portals just to kill off Thanos' army. They wouldn't win again, we wouldn't let it happen. After being brought into battle, I was hit with something and my surroundings changed in an instant. My whole world dropped when I saw him, lying there in a critical state with everyone around him watching as he... Fell asleep. Forever.
However, I couldn't move from where I was nor speak at all. Everyone else fused with the background, their voices and presence blurring behind me. It was just me, him and death.
I saw that scene in slow motion.
His eyes and face losing all their color as he exhaled his last breath along with three words. He stared into no where while facing my direction, letting a weak whisper escape his lips before they became cold and rigid. Those words repeated over and over in my head, as the dying man in front of me slowly lost his light and turned into the lifeless body of who once was my mentor.
And, to be sincere, Mr.Stark was like a father to me more than just a mentor."Do it, Peter."
I have no way of knowing what happened next as I woke up violently, sitting up while grabbing my chest. I gasped for air, crying quietly while I stared wide-eyed at my bed's blankets. My heart hurt from the rapid breathing, my whole body was shaking wildly, my vision started to blurry from the many tears accumulating in my eyes. "It's fine Peter, it's just one of those nightmares, they won't come true again- calm down dammit! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven- agh! Why isn't this working?!" I thought to myself, getting frustrated at calming down. "Alright, alright- lines, that works too." I looked around me in search of a straight line to focus on, which ended up being the ones around the door. Then I locked eyesight with them and tried to concentrate on their simple structure, taking small breaths. "What a pretty line, am I right?" I internally joked, hoping to use humor to distract my mind. Losing control over my own mind felt so hopeless and stupid. After a while of describing with full detail every object I could see from my bed, I managed to calm down my breathing enough to slowly stop shaking. Once I was calm and back in control I checked the time in my alarm clock. "05:37 am...? At least it's not that early..." I wishpered, letting a fainted sigh escape my lips. "I have to wake up at seven anyway, got plenty of time..." I wondered around the room, getting out of bed and turning on my desk's lamp so its brightness wouldn't blind me. "An hour and twenty minutes... Guess I'll leave it up to YouTube once more" I smiled to myself and grabbed my phone, plugging my earbuds and tapping on youtube as soon as I had typed in the password. All I did was click on the usual meme videos or those that talk about cool historical facts, they were long and entertaining, just what I needed to keep my mind distracted and busy. Though, it worked perfectly fine so I spent my time (until the alarm started ringing) watching videos there.
Beep beep beep!
The alarm started being annoying at 7, as expected. Thankfully I was awake already and could turn it off right away. I got out of bed, went to the bathroom and changed clothes, taking my bag and coat before walking out of my room to the living room, where I left the bag on the floor and sat down for breakfast. Aunt may was already at the table, watching the news as she drank coffee. "Good morning dear, slept good?" She asked, to which I nodded with a smile. "I'm glad, you must've been tired yesterday" She chuckled and continued "when I came home you were sleeping like a rock". Meanwhile, I poured a bit of milk in my mug, half-filling it. I took some crackers and started drinking from my cold mug. "Pfff, I was??" I chuckled and "Guess I was tired from doing... Nothing" I added, making May laugh to herself. The news were heard in the background as I finished my milk and a few crackers, putting the mug in the sink and storing the crackers remaining (in their package) inside my pocket. When I stepped out of the kitchen I went straight to my bag, picking it up to go out, but my aunt's voice made me stop to pay her attention. "You're going already, Petey? You haven't eaten anything, dear!" She said, slight worry in her tone as she looked up at me. "Yep, It's kind of late and Ned is waiting outside for me, we're going together today too" I let out an innocent giggle to not give it much importance. "And, you know I'm not hungry in the mornings, will eat more at lunch" I reassured, answering her question with a fake warm smile that she seemed to not notice. "Alright sweetie... Have a good day, see you later!" She said cheerfully, waving goodbye with a rather... Worried look? I didn't really understand it at the moment. I waved back and left, closing the door behind me and walking outside going out of the building downstairs.
