Daemeon

I am curled up somewhere dark and warm, nothing interrupting my slumber, then I hear it.

The melody snakes in, lifting my head and filling up my senses with light. it's finally time to wake up.

Suddenly, he world explodes into needle-sharp focus around me, I am moving faster than anyone else as I race towards my clothes, pulling them on over my undergarments and spinning around until I face the door.

As I sprint out of it, I hear a scream but don't care racing towards the sound. it stops, leaving me standing in the doorway looking out over the water at the man sitting in the pavilion in the centre of the lake.

"Please keep playing."

As I speak, he starts again and turns to look at me across the water, his hazel eyes sparkling with amusement and curiosity as his finger pluck gently at the strings.

I smile and close my eyes, letting my magic take over, changing my traits from human to elf, my mark changing and shifting to become a phoenix in flight.

My eyes open to see his startled gaze, but without hesitation I pull out a flute from thin air and begin to play, the music flowing around me as liquid light, lifting me and making my robes blow in the wind like wings in flight.

He resumes playing once more, our songs mingling in the air, a perfect duet. I control my song and drift over to him, stopping just above the water and letting it do what it wants as I stand on the surface of the water, our eyes locked on each other.

the song finishes and I lower my flute, gently smiling. he rises, moving around his instrument to stand at the edge, arms resting on the wood of the bench that stood between me and him.

I take a step forward, moving slowly making sure to not scare him away. he looks back at me eyes searching my face for answers, finding nothing.

He seems confused as I stop moving, the distance between us a single step.

Suddenly, there is a noise at the gate, a raised voice and someone begging for them to stop.

This is my chance, I leap up onto the platform and hide behind him trembling in fear. He turns to greet the person who force their way in, his face set like stone.

Note: hope you enjoyed this chapter, from now on they will be similar to this as the story is better from a single persons perspective as I don't have enough time to wright things out twice in different words...
