Note: this chapter will only be from Myrin's view, as Daemeon is still out cold after falling out of the sky, so yeah. Hope you enjoy!

as I left the courtyard I had placed the mysterious young man in, I asked one of the maids to keep an eye on him and inform me when he wakes up. turning to the head servant I asked him to organise a twenty-four-hour guard for this courtyard and to not let anyone but me in, before going to bed for the evening.

I awoke to a beam of sunlight shining across my chest, a light breeze sending fleeting clouds skidding across the blue sky, fleetingly there and then gone again.

I quickly readied myself for the new day, humming a new guzheng melody that I had been working on as I did so.

I call for the servants to set up my instrument in the pavilion in the centre of the lotus pond for when I return, and then head out of my mansion. I climb into my ornate carriage and we set off for the palace, the horse's coats reflecting the morning sun as we race towards our destination.

I arrive at the entrance to the court chamber and step down from my carriage, walking through the doors past the guards and up the steps.

I reach the top and enter the chamber, the clerk announcing me as I do so. every single head in the room turns to watch me enter, my footsteps echoing in the silence that had ensued.

I reach my place at the front just as the clerk announces my father the king has arrived. I turn and bow in unison with everyone else, my eyes following him as he walks to the throne mounted upon the steps, his majestic cape flowing out behind him, his grey hair tied up under his crown.

he smiles as if everything is alright as if nothing has gone wrong and our country has not just faced one of the worst floods in our history.

the court goes by quickly as there isn't much to discuss other than the disaster relief and I am soon on my way back home.

I burst through the doors, heading straight for the lotus courtyard and the isolated pavilion. no one tries to stop me, they are too frightened.

I sit down, a cup of sweet tea at my elbow and begin to play an old melody, one that has been passed down through generation after generation.

this song is said to be able to move even a god to waken and as the melody fills my head I can understand why. this song embodies the life all around me, from the smallest ant to the largest wildebeest on the plains, the plants, the water and earth, the trees, the very air around me seems to shake awake. the soft music fills the air, drifting over the tops of the buildings like a flighty bird.

then I hear an explosion in the building to my left were the mysterious young man who fell from the sky is lying, followed by a scream from one of the maids. I turn to see what the problem is, I hear a voice.

"Please keep playing."
