(9) An unexpected visitor

I lay in bed thinking about what I had done a few days ago. I killed someone. What have I become? What did I used to be?...

My thoughts are interrupted by a knock at my door.

"Who is it?" I ask.

"It's Jordan! Let me in! I've got food!" Shouts a voice from the door.

I get up and rush to the door as my stomach growls.

I get to the door and let him in. Jordan is the Boy I had saved the other day, after I killed the troll, I walked back to my table and waited for the food to get there, trying to pretend nothing had happened.

It hadn't taken him long to catch up to me while I was eating, then he introduced himself and kind of devoted himself to being my best friend. He was an interesting guy once you got to know him. He helped me understand hell a little better and how it worked.

Like, for example, how people visit each other at their homes. You hold out a key like the one that had been given to myself and think of the person you want to visit. It won't open or unlock the door, but it will enable you to knock and be let in. It's all pretty confusing.

"I got burgers and fries, want to play some video games?" Asks Jordan.

"Yeah sure, turn on the T.V." I respond.

Jordan picks up the remote and points it towards the T.V. He stood there for a while unmoving.

"Jordan? Are you going to turn it on? Hello?" I call out to Jordan.

"Dude, why are you just standing there?" I ask as I go up to him, waving my hands in front of his face.

Something is wrong...

Soon the room filled with shadows, just like that night I threw away my soul.

It didn't take him long to appear. Satan was before me once again, and I felt just as terrified and hollow as I did when I first saw him.

"I saw you get your first kill... I'm very proud... You've gained power so quickly. Thats good, it will keep you alive while you're here. And you found the ancient reaper weapon, Scythe. It's been a long time, old friend." Satan spoke softly.

"We are not friends." Scythe spoke harshly.

"Now now, don't be rude. I'm just checking in on my newest reaper. I'll be keeping a very close watch on you. I'll be leaving now, enjoy your lunch."

And as quickly as he had arrived he was gone. Fading like a shadow in the light.

I heard Jordan finally turn on the T.V. I stared at him a while waiting for him to say something, when he finally spoke it became clear that he was unaware of what had just happened.

"What are you staring at? Let's play already."

I grabbed a burger as I went to join him, more than happy to distract myself from my encounter.
