"Yea mom, we just landed. - Yea I know, 'be safe in a country I've never been before', mom I'm not stupid. - and I love you, you know that - mom I have to get my luggage. I'll let you know everything later - I will call you back I promise. - love you too, bye."
Eleanor hung up and focused on her one task at hand, finding her luggage.
The plane ride was as to be expected, well if you expected first class that is.
Eleanor, on the other hand, had not expected it as she boarded the plane to her doom. She figured a regular plain coach seat, hopefully with a window was in her future. Not an expensive cubical of a seat with fancy wine and desserts, with a hostess catering to your every need. She didn't feel as though she belonged, and actually would have preferred a crowded coach seat, maybe with a crying baby, she wanted something on this trip not to be a surprise.
Finally her turquoise floral luggage and carry-on appeared on the endless belt of bags, and she could now move away from the vigilant hoards of eyes searching for their prey of possession.
"Do you know what we are supposed to look for? Is there a sign or anything?" Eleanor asked Jessica as they moved away from the crowd.
The airport itself was quaint but alive, with people, coming and going all about the place. Artwork lined the walls, with lots of flowers in planted pots all around the room. It was quite beautiful, in an airport type of way, and she could see herself wanting to stare at the art for hours, but alas, they had a job to do.
"Oh, like that type of sign" - Jessica laughed out, pointing ahead at the clear sign that read, 'Eleanor Parker and Jessica Myers '. Held by a professional-looking man in a suit and tie.
Eleanor always imagined the professional drivers were middle-aged men, who had a comedic charm to them and were named, 'Burt' or 'Tom', though she did suppose that was only in movies. This driver was a younger man, late twenties she supposed, quite handsome as well, who looked uncomfortable in the suit he was wearing, as he scratched at the collar several times as they walked over to him.
"Jessica and Eleanor I suppose?" the unknown man asked the two girls, to which they nodded in response to his question.
The still unknown man turned around, folding the sign under his arm, and started off, heading out of the airport. It was then she noticed the other two men tailing behind him, also clad in suits, with impressive builds, to which she assumed they were bodyguards of sorts. It was also then that she realized that the unknown man wasn't just a driver, as she doubted that they would have sent two bodyguards for a simple driver, and it wasn't as though herself and Jess were any gems of the kingdom that needed to be protected.
"Um excuse me, sir, you know our names and we don't know yours, or your two- um friends." Eleanor let out, wanting a name to call him by.
"Oh, right apologies, my name is Jaxon Emerson, but you fine ladies can call me Jax. Those two simply are flies on the wall, they are just there for some assured protection back to the palace, nothing to worry your pretty little heads about at all." Jaxon returned, giving a bow as he introduced himself.
Something about the way he told them not to worry their 'pretty little heads' about the situation, only led Eleanor to ponder more, if she was indeed correct about the apparent 'Jax' in front of her, and what his status really was. But alas this question would indeed get buried until a rainy day, as she had other things to focus her 'pretty little' head-on at the moment.
By now they were driving along in the nicely made SUV, Eleanor couldn't help but enjoy the snow-filled tree view she had out of the window of the car, all the white scenery blurring past her, all the while keeping its beauty and intrigue, made the trip she was on, all the bit easier to deal with, at least for a moment.
