Chapter Three: The Outside World

Bruce was woken up by the sound of a door slamming which caused the boy to shoot up in a panic only to see an enraged Eleven dropping herself onto the bed. He was confused and rubbed his eyes and yawned before speaking to her

"What happened?"

She didn't speak as the sound of the front door slamming was heard and distant footsteps walking away which gave him an idea of what happened.

"What was it about?"

Yet again she didn't say anything which angered him a bit but he stood up and went for the door, when he opened it he saw what seemed to be whipped cream and M&M's on the ground. With a sigh, he went to the corner of the kitchen and grabbed a broom before sweeping it up and cleaning the whipped cream with a rag. Once he finished Bruce started to make himself some bacon and eggs which only took a few minutes. As he was eating his food at the table he heard Eleven in their room doing something which didn't concern him, but once she walked out and started her way to the door and stared at it, he began to wonder what she was doing.

As he watched Bruce saw El open the curtains, thinking it wouldn't be too bad to let in some sunlight, he let her be. Bruce got up and brought his plate to the sink and began to wash it, just as he finished he heard the locks on the door open. Out of fear he turned and saw El opening the door and walking out. Seeing This happen Bruce went after her only for the door to close again and the locks to be put back into place

"El! Don't go out!"

He didn't receive a response as El walked away from the cabin, once she was out of sight her grip on the door was released and Bruce immediately opened it up again only to see trees and leaves. He started to straight and jump over the tripwire in a desperate attempt to find El. 

About ten minutes passed before he saw a woman with her child talking to someone who he noticed was El who made the swing spin around the pole, once the woman looked away El ran and wasn't see by the women. But Bruce kept running after her in a panicked state, but he didn't know if his legs could keep up. He started to fall behind but saw where she was going, it was a familiar place. Hawkins Middle.

Bruce didn't want to call out in case it brought unwanted attention, so his best option was to keep running. She entered the school and the door quickly closed behind her as she walked off into the building. Bruce slowed down and opened the doors but didn't see her but heard her footsteps, so he followed with quiet ones. After another few minutes, he stopped hearing them which made him worried if he lost her again. A few seconds of investigating showed him that she was in front of the gym door which he could barely see inside.

He saw two people, one which he hasn't seen in a long time. Mike, who didn't look any different, with a redhead girl who was skating around him. But the flick of Eleven's head and the redhead falling caused him to panic and run up to her and grab her arm before pulling her towards the exit. A minute went by before they stopped outside of the building where Bruce tried to catch his breath

"Eleven! What the hell are you doing?!"

She stood in surprise at what happened. Once Bruce caught his breath he stood up and looked at her "Well?"

She finally spoke "...I wanted to see my friends..."

"Well, you endangered yourself in the process! We have to get home before hopper now or he'll have your ass!"

El stood in silence and realized a certain pronoun was missing "What about you?"

Bruce waved his hand "I'm not worried about myself, I'm more worried about you"

A few seconds went by before the two started their walk back to the cabin, making sure to stay away from houses.
