"Bright!" A voice echoed. The focused boy turned in his chair. Blue orbs connect with dark brown ones before another sound was heard.

"Olivia!" A voice echoed. The fearful girl turned in her chair. Green orbs connect with scary ones before another scream was heard.
"I am so sorry!" I took the hand of the girl found on the cold sidewalk.
"No, it was my fault." I pulled up the spooked girl, "I should've been watching where I was going."
Her eyes grew wide as her light green orbs stopped at my chest. I looked down at what she could possibly see. Coffee and creamer covered my white button-up and dark jacket.
"I-I am so stupid! Here uh- Let me help clean you up." She dug through her little brown purse and pulled out and handfull of waded up napkins. She dabbed one of the pale napkins against my chest, causing a burning feeling to shoot through my chest. I groaned as she continued.
"Sorry..." She muttered out, pulling her hand away.
"The skin on your hand is tougher than the skin on your chest." The girl with green eyes looked at my hands that held a case file and a phone by my side.
"What are you implying?" My face scrunched as she softly spoke.
"Put your hand in your shirt." Her eyes traveled back up to meet mine. Her eyes stayed calm as if the sentence she spoke was a reasonable thing to say to a stranger.
"Wha- I'm- I'm sorry I don't think I heard you correctly." I stumbled over words trying to figure out what an acceptable response to her demand would be.
"Put your hand in your shirt." I did as told untucking my white shirt and setting my file on the park bench beside us. I take my empty hand and slowly slide my hand behind the warm stain. She started patting the distasteful brown liquid off the shirt. The pain wasn't as bad as it was on my chest but still didn't feel nice on my hand.
Buzz Buzz
My phone vibrated in my left hand. And again and again.
"I almost got it." The girl was concentrated on getting this stain out, and she wasn't going to let me leave until she had.
Buzz Buzz
I looked down at the phone, hoping it was just a persistent telemarketer. The name Gil flashed across the screen.
Decline
I'm not going to get scolded over the phone by him, not now.
Buzz Buzz
"My god..." I muttered out without thinking.
"Late for work or worried girlfriend?" The soft-spoken girl chuckled.
"Might as well be both." I smile lightly, laughing along at her jokes. Her green eyes locked with mine, and she smiles until the sound of my impatient phone took her attention.
"Sorry I have to answer," I answered the call and put the phone up to my ear.
"Hello."
"Malcolm! Where the hell are you?!" His voice echoed through my ears.
"I'll be there soon." A cold feeling hit my stomach, and I froze.
"Sorry." The girl spoke.
"Are you with someone?!"
"Yes."
"Where are you, Bright!?"
"The park." I took a deep breath in "A girl spilled coffee on my shirt, and she won't let me leave until it's cleaned up."
"Tell her you're part of the NYPD working on a triple homicide!"
"I got it out!" A cheerful yell came from where the girl was standing. Her arms in the air in triumph.
"I'll be there soon." I hung up the phone and started to jog away frantically, trying to tuck my shirt in.
"Wait! You forgot your file!" I stopped to look behind me where the yell came from. The green-eyed girl was holding my file in the air by the bench.
"Thank you-" I took the file, searching in my mind for her name.
"Olivia." She put her hand out as she spoke.
"Malcolm." I lightly shook her cold hand with a nod before I went on my way to the police station.
As soon as I stepped into the NYPD building, I was meet with the faces of Gil, J.T., Dani. "We go to go!" Gil turns me around and starts rushing me out.
"What's going on?" I look at them for answers.
"We got a call." Gil starts the car.
"Our triple homicide is going to be a quadruple homicide if you don't hurry!" Dani yells from inside the car.
"Oh shi-"
