INDIA POV

"Ion know what I should do. I'm really not even sure if this situation would end up better or worse. I fought like crazy with Key constantly and how the hell am I supposed to trust her? Me and Sam was good until she came back around" I took a left at the exit toward the beach. Me and Rayne never actually did anything, she's one of my closest friends. We met my first day in college and clicked immediately, we've been hella close ever since. Too close for Kiah's comfort and because of how I made her sound to Sam probably way too close for hers too.

"I told you that lil stunt you pulled was too much, now either way it goes Sam's not gonna like me. I'm gonna be honest with you hun, you pushed her toward Kiah. She never would've gone for her if you had been there for her from the start and understood where she was coming from. I know she's in the wrong too but if you wanted this to work with no Kiah involved you really didn't help your case at all. And always going out with Quise and Deon and them isn't helping either! You keep hanging out with immature known cheaters, they cool and all as friends but you gotta know what kinda perception she's gonna have of you if you're doing all that."

I eyed Rayne down secretly hating that she was right. "But I'm not even like that." Rayne gave me what I call the "bitch please" stare. "You're missing the point entirely. If I hang out with drug lords everyone is gonna think I sell drugs. If you surround yourself with certain people and you're not likeminded people still assume that you are and your surroundings influence you whether you like it or not. Their pride always gets them into sticky situations and I think that mentality definitely rubbed off on you. I'm not saying cut them off I'm just saying you gotta be more empathetic and self aware in a relationship or it's not about to last just like theirs never do."

I sighed deeply. "I just don't know what to do anymore. At this point she already got feelings for Kiah I can tell. I know she still loves me. Kiah too but she's toxic, always has been. I just know that if I try and push her away from Kiah it's not gonna end well." We finally found a parking spot that was close. Rayne unclicked her seatbelt but stayed in the car for a moment to finish our conversation. "Then don't. Don't make her choose. Let Kiah think you're okay with your little arrangement and show Sam why you're the better choice. Time will show Kiah's true colors and she'll see why she should've left her alone in the first place. Let things flow and balance as they should."

"Why thank you oh Spiritual One" I said laughing. "What's next? You got some rocks for me, some sage to burn?"
Rayne chuckled. "Yeah whatever girl, you know I'm right though! Maybe you need you some damn sage." I laughed harder. "I got some burning a hole in my pocket waiting for us to get out this car." Rayne chuckled again, rolling her eyes even though she couldn't help but smirk. "Yeah I don't doubt you got herbs in your pocket but I know one thing for sure and two things for certain, that's definitely not sage."

We laughed and listened to music on my speaker as we walked on the beach toward the shoreline. Almost no one was there, making it perfect for a smoke and chill spot. As soon as we got settled I got a text from Sam.

Mara: Can we please talk this out? I want things to work between us. I love you.

India: Yeah. I'm not at home right now I'll be back in about an hour or so. Meet me at my place?

Mara: Of course. See you soon 💕

Me and Rayne listened to Masego and Brent, smoking and vibing out for a little before heading back to the car. I just hope she's right.

I dropped Rayne off and got to my apartment. I unlocked the door and Sam was nowhere in sight. I heard rustling and immediately grabbed my piece before realizing she was probably in the bedroom. I walked in to find Kiah alone with barely anything on.
