Chapter 39 - In Your Arms

-Maika's POV-

"Kirito-kun?"

He was standing at the entrance of the locker area, looking like he was waiting for someone.

"Akiyama-senpai." He approached me.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Was that guy yesterday your boyfriend?"

My eyes widened at the sudden question.

"Y-Yeah, he is." I replied.

"I'll get going." Kirito-kun's head faced down.

"W-Wait, Kirito-kun!" I shouted.

"I'm sorry."

I feel bad...he's a nice boy, y'know?

He looked at me with such a sad expression before leaving.

Ahh, damn.

"You don't have to apologise, y'know?" I felt a warm sensation on my head.

I looked up to see Minato's arm on my head.

"Well, I feel bad." I sighed.

"He seems like a respectful boy. He'll understand."

"Wow, weren't you jealous yesterday? Now you're complimenting him."

"Hey, I'm not that petty." He puffed up my cheeks.

"Come on, let's go." His hand reached for mine.

"Minato, where are we going?" I asked as he held my hand steadily, guiding me to wherever we were heading to.

"Here."

I looked up to see an amusement park.

"Eh?"

"I've always wanted to take the ferris wheel with you." He grinned.

"Let's go, let's go!" Minato beamed with enthusiasm.

"Ah, I want cotton candy!" My eyes widened in delight when I saw the machine.

I watched as Minato ran up to the stall, to get it for me.

"Here you go!"

"Eh, you're going to hold it?"

"Take the biggest bite you can."

I tried to take a huge bite and ended up getting the candy all over my mouth.

Minato giggled when he saw my face.

"Minato! Baka!" I laughed as I took my wipes out.

"You're so cute." He pinched my cheek.

He helped to wipe my face and in that few moments as I stared at him, I realised he brought me here to cheer me up. He didn't want me to brood over what happened with Kirito-kun.

"Okay, now you can have it for real." Minato handed me my cotton candy.

"You're a cheeky boy." I grinned.

"You want anything, Minato?"

"Hmm...I want something savoury."
