Art by me. VERY old art... ^^"

It was cold on their mountain, a soft breeze made them shudder lake a leaf in the wind. Calm humming made only one of them warm though. Paarthurnax. Alduin glared at the other human, taking his red eyes off of him for a split second. He then looked at the boiling water above the fire they have made and stared at the food inside. Potatoes, carrots, broccoli... mainly vegatables inside the hot water.

"When will dinner be done? I am starving." Alduin complained of his hunger for the fifth time in 10 minutes. Paarthurnax kept his humming and the soft noise echoed in the cave they called a home that night. Just then, a strong gust of wind blew inside their cave and the fire dancing with the strokes of the wind. Icy flakes of snow entered the home and covered the already covered snowy ground. Paarthurnax stopped humming and stared at the flames in fear. He feared the wind would blow the flame out and that he'd have to grab more sticks for the fire. But in the wintery weather outside, finding dry or semi-dry sticks would be almost impossible.

"Dinner should be done soon, once again." Alduin groaned and tilted his head back. He had sat himself against the cold wall and cleared a spot on a little ledge that had formed from the wall. It was a perfect bench. Well, perfect for those who prefer uncomfortable rocks to sit on rather than the snowy ground. Paarthurnax yelped as an even stronger gust rushed in. He shielded himself the best he could by turning his back. The fire had gone out, leaving the two in the dark and the cold.

"Now what?" Alduin asked.

"The food will provide us with some heat, but not much. We will have to rely on ourselves, or each other for warmth." Paarthy explained. Alduin nodded and stared blankly at the cold ground. Many thoughts ran through his head.

"Right...right." He replied after a while. He snapped out of his thoughts when a bowl of vegatables and a slice of cold bread was in his range of vision.

"Enjoy it. It may be the last meal you eat." Alduin's red eyes widened.

"No, it won't be! We will get off this blasted mountain whether it kills us or not!" Alduin declared loudly as he took a bite of his food. Paarthurnax sighed sadly.

"If you say so..." He ate his food slowly and quietly.

When the two finished their food, they realized the snow had settled as night struck. Paarthurnax walked outside and saw the northern lights shining brightly above him. He gasped as he felt arms wrap around him. Alduin gave a rare smile.

"Let's watch the stars." He said. Paarthurnax, who had been frowning, smiled back at the suddenly cheery human.

"Okay." They climbed up the mountain a little and found a good spot to watch the stars and the lights. Alduin sat down tiredly and kept his red eyes upon the sky. Paarthurnax grinned as the names of multiple constellations filled his mind. He too sat down and leaned on Alduin.

"Want to go back?" Paarthy asked.

"Sure, we should get some sleep."

The two were sleeping on opposite sides of the cave. Alduin on his "bench" and Paarthurnax on the cold ground. Despite Alduin's many warnings of Paarthurnax getting sick, he still slept on the ground.  Alduin tried closing his eyes and sleeping, but the chattering and shaky breaths of his friend kept him awake.

"Come here, loser." Alduin said. Paarthurnax quickly went to alduin and curled up with him. Alduin placed a friendly kiss to Paarthurnax's cheek and cuddled close.

"Normally y-you're not this f-friendly..." Paarthurnax admitted.

"Yes, but you're in need. I'm giving you something I need. Warmth." They both cuddled close and they realized their snowy world had turned to their own dreams.
