Falling Apart

Everyone was silent as they sat around the big table.
For once, the building wasn't filled with laughter and yelling.
The absence of one singular person made all the difference and everybody left was almost too on edge to function.

Geoff finally sighed as he looked around to the rest of the group.
"I honestly don't know where to start.  We all know the situation.  But I don't have any way to solve it."

This made Tessa wince, and Ryan squeezed her hand from under the table.
She was bound and determined that this wasn't going to be the end though.
"Jack, what do we have on this dude?"

Jack shrugged and pulled up his file.
"Not much.  Nobody has ever really come face to face with the man.  He sends his minions to do his dirty work."

This made Gavin groan.  "Somebody has to know something about him!  Nobody can be that much of a ghost."

Jack shrugged.  "The only real information around is that he drives that jet black Camaro around town.  I've seen it before, the windows are completely tinted and he picks up a hooker and then disappears again."

This made Michael gag in disgust.  "You're telling me the man is basically a bajillionaire and he's still picking up hookers from the street?  That's so trashy."

Jack shrugged.  "I'm not saying it's good, I'm just saying it's all we've got."

Tessa spoke up at this point.
"Where does he take them?"
"Back to their building."

Tessa stayed quiet for several more minutes, listening to the guys all throw ideas back and forth.  All were quickly shut down, as nobody had any plan that was solid enough to ensure Jeremy's life.
When she finally spoke up, it had been quiet for several minutes.

"So what you're saying, is you need someone to get on the inside and locate where Jeremy is before you move so you can minimize the damage.  And it needs to happen fast."

Geoff nodded.  "Yeah but that's literally impossible at the moment."

Tessa frowned.  "I don't understand why we don't just storm the place.  It's never been an issue before."

Ryan answered quietly, "it's too big of a building and they have too strong of a force.  Plus they are probably expecting that."
The room went silent again.  The answer was right in front of them, but nobody was going to be happy about it.
Tessa gave Ryan a hesitant look before speaking her piece.

"So use me."

Ryan immediately spoke, his voice so deadly calm that everyone in the room backed up an inch or two before realizing what they were doing.
"I know what you're thinking and the answer is no."

Tessa didn't back down though.  She stared straight at Geoff, ignoring Ryan's statement all together.
"Send me to the street and let him pick me up.  When we get into base I'll kill him while he's distracted and find where they are keeping Jeremy."

Ryan's voice wasn't quite so calm this time as he growled.  "No fucking way."

Geoff shook his head along with Ryan.  "There's not enough of a plan there Tess."

She slammed her fist down on the table.  "So let's fucking make one.  Jeremy gets closer to death as we speak and I'm not going to let him die without a fight.  Send me the fuck in there and I'll call it out from the inside so you guys can get in and out alive.  It'll be easier if I take out the boss, everyone will be confused for a window and you can mow them down."

Ryan's face was turning red.
"Over my dead fucking body.  Come up with a new plan."

Tessa growled back at him, almost equally as menacing as the angry Vagabond.  "It's gonna be over Jeremy's dead body if somebody doesn't get a fucking move on!"
