"Sometimes things have to fall apart before they come together." ~ Unknown

Procel's POV

A feeling of dread washed over me as I walked into the house. I ran my finger over the vintage wallpaper and memories flashed through my mind. Some happy and some painful. Images of Mr. Parker holding a newborn flashed through my mind.

As I reached the staircase a cough sounded throughout the house. I made my way up the master bedroom. In the middle of the California king bed, laid a frail body. Her eyes lit up when she saw me. "Procel come closer child let me see you." She said in a weak voice. My heart hurt as I took in the sight.

"How are you doing today madrina?" I asked as I walked up to her bedside. She smiled and reached for my hand. Coldness gripped my heart. There's nothing that we can do. It's too late. I didn't notice that I was crying until a frail hand wiped my tears away. "Dave, can you excuse us, love?" Mrs. Parker looked at her husband as he walked out the room and shut the door softly.

"Is it that bad dear?" She looked at me with a knowing look. I nodded as I broke out into sobs. "I'm sorry. I should've come earlier, we could've still had a chance." I choked out through tears and sobs. "Oh, my child it's not your fault. We all have to leave this world. How long do I have left?"

I sniffled as I looked into her eyes. "1 month, cancer has spread to multiple places in your body. No amount of chemo will help you, the cancer is too aggressive." I said sadly. Pain dug its claws into my heart.

She's leaving me, just like everyone else. I can't lose her too. Memories of my life with the Parkers flashed through my mind. Us going to the park, making pancakes for madrina. Tending to madrina's rose gardens. The day they purchased my restaurant and became my business partners. The day that they found me standing on the side of the bridge ready to end all of my sufferings. They took me in when I had nothing and gave me everything I wanted.

I lifted myself gracefully from her bedside and walked to the window. "Where's Adam? Has he not come to visit you?" I already knew the answer but I wanted to be wrong. "No my child. Dave called but he hasn't returned any of our calls. Maybe you can talk to him?" She said hopefully. I looked at her frail body and nodded. "Yes, I'll try my best madrina. I'll take my leave now." I said as I wrapped her into a hug. "Be careful my child and come back and see me." I nodded as I walked to the door. "I will madrina," I said as I walked out of her room. I passed Mr. Parker on my way out.

"See you soon kiddo." He said as he ruffled my hair. I smiled while taking a good look at him. He looked as if he hasn't slept in days. "See you soon, you should get some rest padrino," I said as I hugged him. He nodded and I waved goodbye as I made my way to my car.

Anger wrapped itself around my heart as I sped to Adam's condo. I can't believe this asshole. Why hasn't he called? Why hasn't he checked on his mother? That ungrateful son of a bitch, I can't wait to get my hands on him.
