"Hey" I say quietly as I enter Sapphire's room again.
She looks up at me and smiles lightly.
"I wanted to come in and see how you were doing. I also wanted to ask you something".
"I'm okay. Right now. All things considered. They put me on a lot of pain medication. What's your question?"
"Okay. So I don't know if you heard, but I asked Courtney to marry me and she said yes".
"Yeah. I heard".
"Okay. Well I wanted to know if maybe you would go to my wedding... you know since I wouldn't even be there if it wasn't for you and our plan".
"Yeah. I don't think your fiance would be too happy about that. She doesn't like me even being your neighbor. According to her she wants me to stay away from you for good".
"Come on, Sapph. I want you there. I'll even wheel you in myself if I have to. You can bring... Dravon. Courtney can't say anything if you bring a date".
"I'll think about it and I'll ask him if he'll even want to go. No promises though. When is it anyways?"
"Oh. Right. It's a month from next Saturday. Courtney wants it to be sooner rather than later. I have to give the lady what she wants, you know?"
"Oh okay. I should be out of the hospital by then and partially healed. I don't know. We'll see. Okay?"
"Okay. Just let me know, sooner the better, please. I'll let you rest now. I'll talk to you later Sapph".
"Okay." She says sleepily. Already half asleep.
As I walk out of her room I run into someone.
"Oh. Sorry".
I look up and see that it is none other than Dravon.
I put on my fake smile when he looks me straight in the eyes.
"What are you doing here? She's my girlfriend now. Not yours".
"She's asleep. And don't worry about it. I'm getting married, to another girl. You and Sapphire are invited. I just told Sapphire the news".
"I'm invited to this wedding you just magically seem to have now?"
"Um yeah. I want Sapphire there and told her she could bring you along".
"Okay. I'm going to go just to make sure this stupid wedding crap is real".
"Great. See you in about a month then. Sapphire will give you all the details. When she is awake, healed, and better, of course".
He just glares at me and walks past me into Sapphire's room.
Ugh.
Why did I invite him?
I really don't want him there.
I don't really want him with Sapphire either.
She deserves so much better.
But she apparently loves him; what crap that is; so I want her to feel more comfortable about coming to my wedding. If inviting that asshole means she'll come and enjoy herself so be it.
I want her there to see the outcome of all our hard work.
No other reasons.
Right?
