I peeled the note open. Obviously this note had been in his pocket. The note looked like it went through a cycle of laundry. On it was Charlie's number. It said: 659-3852. I crumpled the note up and tossed it on to the dresser. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the closet. I pull it open and find a jacket. I shrug it on and walk out to the family room.
"Gaia?" Oliver asks. I turn my back on him and open the cabinet.
"What." I reply as I file through the food. Peanut butter. I take that out and pull a spoon out. I lean on the counter and slowly spoon some peanut butter in my mouth.
"Gaia? Can we just talk?" Oliver says.
"Sure."
"So are we still together?" Oliver asks giving me a worried look.
"Of course! We will have rough patches in our relationship. It happens. Now lets really talk." I raise my eye brows.
"Ok." Oliver nods.
"We need to go home." I sigh. I dropped my spoon in the jar and walk towards Oliver. I plop right next to Oliver and put a hand on Oliver's thigh.
"Why?"
"Why? We have school!" I exclaim.
"Oh right..." Oliver said. He was never the one to love school.
"Right. So we have to go home. Or you do at least." I sigh. I look down.
"Your mom?" Oliver questioned. I nod.
"Well, you can stay at my place." Oliver pulled me into his arm.
"Really?"
"Of course! We lets hit the road!" Oliver sat up. He stalked into our room and pulled out our suitcases.
"Packed and ready to go?" Oliver smiled.
"Ok." I reply.
---------------------------
"Here stay here." Oliver said letting me out of the car. He drove off into the airport parking lot. With in a few minutes he comes back with the luggage. We go through security and put our luggage on the conveyer belt.
"Plane 925 is boarding." The flight attendant lady announced.
"Promise you won't be bad?" Oliver whispered.
"Yeah." I shrug. We board the plane and take our seats. The plane starts to roar and move. It gets faster and faster. Soon enough we were flying. I slip into sleep.
"Hey." Oliver shakes me.
"What?" I moan.
"We are landing."
"Ok."
The plane circles and lowers down. The landing gave a bump and rolled to a stop. Once the plane stopped we exited it and got out luggage. We called a taxi and went to my house first. We both got out and walked to my front door. I knock three times. The door opens and I see my mother.
"Hello. Get your stuff and get out of here." My mother growled.
"Mom-"
"Don't call me 'mom'." She snaps.
"Miss Johnson, if I could just-"
"No you can't! Go help Gaia get her crap and get out!" Miss Johnson screeches. I sigh and bound up the stairs and slam my door so hard I thought it could of fallen off its hinges. I start to pack my little things like books, makeup, and pictures. i shove them into a box and set it near my door. I pick up one of my shoes and throw it at my mirror. The shoe hit it hard and the mirror now has cracks like a web. I yank my closet doors open and pile clothes into the boxes. I got about half my clothes in when Oliver comes into my room.
"Had to convince your mom to let me come up. She nearly took my head off." Oliver made a low whistle. He grabbed a box and went into my bathroom. After 10 minutes he came back into my room with all my hygiene items.
"Bathroom check." Oliver made a note. I finished the clothes and shoved the 4 very heavy boxes towards the door.
"Clothes/Closet check." I say.
"Desk check." Oliver calls. I pull all my posters down and pack them in. I soon grab all my blankets and fold them up and set them nicely on my mattress.
"Ready?" Oliver asks.
"As ready as I will ever be." I sigh.
"We need a car."
"Right." I agree.
"Hang on." Oliver pulls his phone out. He types a little and puts the phone to his ear. I am only able to hear his side of the conversation:
"Hello?"
"Yes Mom, I know its 2:30 in the morning."
"Can you do me a favor? Please!"
"Ok great. Do you know where Gaia's house is? Well she and I are here and need a ride. bring the van. We will explain on the way home."
I clicked the end call button and shoved it in his pocket.
"15 minutes."
"Ok." I nod.
We start carrying boxes down and setting them near the front door. My mothers eyes never leaving us. We hear a honk, that should be Oliver's mother. Oliver stacks three boxes and carries them out the door leaving my mother and I alone.
"Mom-" I start.
"No. Just go." My mother looks down and points towards the door. I nod with that and grab a couple boxes and head out the door. I approach Oliver's mom's car.
"Hello. I'm Gaia." I say sheepishly.
"Hello! I'm Miss Lacefield, but please call me Alice." She said warmly.
I hand the boxes to Oliver as he loads up. I run back inside to get my last few things. I turn immediately and grab the last two boxes.
"Goodbye mother." I glare at her. She glares back as well. I turn to go and slam the door. I run out to the waiting SUV. I put the last few boxes in the back seat with me.
"Alright. What is going on Oliver? How was Hollywood?"
"Hollywood... was great." Oliver glanced out the window.
"What's going on?" Alice recites.
"Okay, so... um... Gaia's mom never knew that Gaia left and when she did find out she got really mad. Gaia called her mom to, you know check up, and her mom said that she needed to be out of her house in 2 weeks. So this is why you came to pick us up at 4:45 in the morning. So, can Gaia stay in my room?" Oliver explained.
"Well, I don't know... Things could happen." Alice sighed.
"No ma'am, we promised to each other that we will wait." I pipped up.
"Ok. Gaia you can stay in Oliver's room. How many months until school is out?" Alice asks. She glances at me through the rear view mirror.
"About a month." Oliver answers for me.
"Well you guys can sleep all through tomorrow but the next day you both will go to school." Alice says.
"Okay." Oliver and I say together. We pull into their driveway. Their house was very nice. A two story of course with a 2 car garage. Oliver steps out of the car gesturing for me to do the same. I step out of the car and Oliver takes my hand. He shows me the house. The house is very nice and expensive. He leads me up the steps and into his room. His room was not the messiest nor the tidiest. It had a queen bed with a flat screen across from it. He had his desk and his own bathroom.
"And this is my room." Oliver said. He collapsed on his bed and moaned.
"Wow." I say.
"In every room you say that." Oliver points out.
"Yeah I know." I giggle.
He laughs in return.
"Hey come to bed you must be tired." Oliver says.
I crawl into his soft bed and curl up next to him.
"Thank you." I whisper.
"Hey no problem! After we graduate we can get our own place and got to a community college! And we can get married and start our own family!" Oliver says excitedly.
"Yeah we can get a place, sounds nice." I smile. My eyes droop and I fall asleep.
-----------------------
"Oliver." I shake him. He grunts.
"Oliver." I kiss his cheek and tap him.
"Huh?" He grunts again. How do you get this boy up? It must take him hours!
"I am hungry." I whine.
"You know where the kitchen is. Get food." Oliver says slowly. He starts to snore again and soon enough I give up. I crawl over him and let my toes touch the soft carpet. They sink into it and I am standing. I tip toe across the room and out the door. I tip toe down the steps and into the kitchen where Alice was sitting at the table on her phone.
"Morning." I greet.
"Oh! Hello!" Alice smiles looking up from her phone. She stands and grabs her plate and cup and sets them in the sink.
"Can I make you something?" Alice offers.
"Oh! No! That's ok. I can make my breakfast. Do you have toast and peanut butter?" I ask. She nods and pulls them out of the pantry. She sets them in front of me as well as a knife and plate.
"Thank you for letting me stay. Oliver and I were discussing last night and we decided that we will move out together and into an apartment." I say.
"Okay. I am glad that you two are working out." Alice smiles.
"Thanks Alice." I smile in return.
"Don't call me that! Call me mom." Alice hugs me.
"Okay."
She lets go and leaves the room without a word.

Next Day
"Kids! Up! You are gonna be late!" Mom yells from below. Yesterday around 7:00 in the evening we moved all my boxes in. I dug through one of my boxes and pulled out an outfit. It was a white t-shirt with shorts. I wore my white high tops along with it. I pulled out my back pack and books and packed. I was ready to go. Oliver on the other hand wasn't.
"Oliver! I packed you up and everything! Just get dressed." I plead. He groans and turns to the other side.
"I don't wanna go to school!" Oliver whines.
"Do you wanna redo a year of high school?" I raise my eye brows. It was 7:14 and school started in 16 minutes! We were gonna be late.
"No..." Oliver said. He sat up and slid out of bed. He found a t-shirt and cargo pants. He was ready... I guess? I practically dragged him to his bathroom and forced him to fix his hair and brush his teeth.
"Ready?" Oliver said walking out of the bathroom.
"Yeah..." I say looking down at my phone. Alex had texted me over 15 times! I reply by saying: will be @ school ttyl
I turn off my phone and shove it in my shorts.
"Come on!" I run out the door.
"By mom!" I call. Oliver follows and we run like no tomorrow to school. We made it in time just before the bell rang. I bend down and rest my hands on my thighs.
"Alright... lets go to class." I pant.
"Okay! Race you there." Oliver laughs.
"We don't have the same class though!" I laugh. We separate and I dash to class. I made it ten seconds after the bell.
"Miss Johnson? Where have you been?" Mr. Basting asked.
"No where." I reply.
"So you have been skipping class?" The entire class has gone silent and started to listen to the conversation.
"I didn't say that."
"So where were you, Miss Johnson?"
"Like I said, No where that concerns you." I sit up.
"I need an answer."
"I gave you one." I snap.
"Don't give me lip. I will see you after class." And with that our conversation was over. The class makes "ohhh". 53 minutes. 1 more minute and then I have to talk to Mr. Basting. The bell rings and the class evacuated with in 20 seconds leaving me and Mr. Basting alone.
"Gaia. Where were you?" Mr. Basting says.
"How many times do I have to say this? This does not concern you."
"I am your english teacher and you had homework. This brought your grade down to a D+. You will not pass this class. Therefore you will not graduate as of now." Mr. Basting snapped.
"Can I get it up?" I said backing down.
"There is one last project and if you get it you will pass with a C. That is only if you get 110%. Here." He hands me a packet," These are instructions and extra credit is stapled to the back."
"I'll do it. Just because I hate you as a teacher. You can't give me another detention for this, Freedom of Speech." I smiled deviously and pushed past and headed towards my next class.
"Gaia?" a familiar voice called. I turn to see my best friend.
"Alex." I sigh. I walk up to her and hug her tightly. She doesn't hug back.
"Your back?" Alex scoffed.
"Yes? Why?" I pulled back.
"Rumors... you got pregnant? Or did you go to the hospital? Were you kidnapped?" Alex babbles.
"No I'm not pregnant, nor did I go to the hospital! I was never kidnapped!" I scoff.
"Oh cause your mom... you know. I also noticed that Oliver was gone too." She wiggles her eyebrows.
"What about me?" Oliver said placing a hand on my waist.
"Anyways I will talk to you both later?" Alex says.
We both nod and head towards our next class, math. As we walk along the halls many other students were talking about us, staring at us. A couple girls from my group of friends cam up to Oliver and I, stopping us.
"OMG Gaia where were you?" Becca asked excitedly.
"Becca that's so straight forward! But seriously Gaia where?" Maggie questioned.
"Ladies," I smirk," It's a secret. Anyways whats going on? Where are the rest of the girls?"
"The girls found a new leader of our group, she's new and everyone finds her attractive." Becca says.
"Really?" I raise my eyebrows.
They both nod.
"Take me to her."
"Okay! Follow us." Maggie says grabbing my hand.
"Wait," I say stopping them,"Can Oliver come too?"
"Of course!" As the four of us were walking all the other popular guys were bro hugging Oliver and girls were talking about him.
"Oliver were ever more this popular?"
"No." Oliver laughed.
"There. She hates us. Her name is Clarissa Owens. She kicked us out of 'her group' she's new Miss Popular." Becca sighed.
"You were a better popular." Maggie sighed.
"Alright girls. Later!" I blow air kisses towards them. I take Oliver by the hand and walk over to this 'Clarissa'.
"Gaia!" The girls were gasping. There is about seven of us. Me, Becca, Maggie, Ali, Lexi, Erin, and Tracy. Ali, Erin, Lexi, and Tracy were in awe.
"Um who are you?" Clarissa turns around.
"I am the leader of my group..." I gesture to my girls.
"Oh right... Honey your rein is done," she smiles," So do me a favor and go away." My girls didn't say anything.
"Hey! Don't talk to her like that." Oliver defended.
"Ohh. Look at Mr. Popular. Your cute." Clarissa smirked.
"Uh thanks? But-" Oliver was cut off.
"But he's dating me." I make a sad face at her,"Oops? Did I break your chance with Oliver? Yep I did." I smiled and my girls laughed.
"Girls!" Clarissa ordered,"Let's go. BTW Gaia this isn't over. At Seniors Graduation party they will have a vote Mr. and Mrs. Popular. And you are going down." She whipped her hair and turned. The girls were gasping and smiling.
"Oh my gosh! Thanks for setting us free!" Ali smiles.
"Setting us free?" I ask.
"She forced us to be her friends cause she knew you were gone and you are Miss. Popular. Clarissa wants that status." Lexi explains.
This. Means. War.
