Chapter 1 - The voice of an angel

I was walking along the road with nothing but an empty backpack. My group abandoned me when I was asleep. It almost cost me my life.
I felt betrayed. They just left me to die. The only people I thought I could trust stabbed me in the back. So I thought my anger against them was justified.
Still, I didn't want to be angry. After all they were the only family I had left after the apocalypse started. The only ones who ever cared about me. Or so I thought.

My head was pounding, my feet were hurting but I couldn't rest. It wasn't safe. Everywhere I looked were walkers, waiting to attack me. But then in the distance I saw something.
A house? No, it was moving or maybe, I was just hallucinating. Wait. It was ACTUALLY moving. It was a car.
I wanted to scream for help but that was obviously the dumbest thing I could do in this situation. They were coming my way so all I needed was some patience.
They were going really fast. I thought that maybe I should block their way so they could see me, so they would pull over.

Why weren't they slowing down? Why didn't they stop for me? Why-

The car crashed into me. My body slammed against the front window and I fell to the ground. I didn't feel anything but I couldn't move either. I was just laying there, in the middle of the road, bleeding.
I slowly fainted, all I saw was darkness and I couldn't hear anything except for a faint
"Hey don't worry, I got you. Don't give up yet. I'm here. Please. I can't lose another person."

They sat down next to me, put my head on their knees while stroking my hair and holding my face. Their hands were soft and warm, their voice sounded angelic and strengthened the last bit of hope I had left. I felt safe even with walkers surrounding me.

"I'll make sure nothing happens to you"

That was the last thing I heard before fully losing consciousness.
