this was briefly touched on in the chapter "creating oc's", but i wanted to add onto it some more!

— when making a fan fiction that follows canon plot, it's important that your character fits into the plot the author has made. you don't want your character to seem like they were copy and pasted into whatever town/city/place the story takes place.

— make sure your oc is time appropriate!!! don't say they wear things that people would be wearing now a-days, because it wouldn't be accurate unless your oc is a time traveler or something of that sort.

— if your character lives in derry, let's say, they probably won't live in a modern mansion and be wearing air force ones.

— of course, there are AU's, but even those need to be handled correctly.

— also keep in mind the era! research slang that was used during that time, popular shows or music you can reference, as well as fashion!

— also, derry was a pretty racist town, so if your oc is anything but white, you might want to show how they would struggle/get bullied by others, especially in school

— thats all for now!
