He was nervous. Jungkook cought himself tucking at his sleeves and tapping his right foot in a nervous rhythm. He forced himself to stop. This was ridiculous... He had no reason to be nervous. All this, was just a meeting between two old friends who hadn't seen each other in a long time. An yet- his mind kept replaying the same questions: "Has he changed?"  "Will he recognize me?", "Is he annoyed that I reached out to him after all this time?", "Does he still like me as much as he used to?" -
The clock above his table in the small but cozy restaurant made a sudden click when the pointer hit 7 and Junkook jumped in surprise. He searched the crowed of othe people again, but there was no sign of him yet. Maybe he wasn't coming? What had he been thinking? It's been 7 years since he had left Busan and traded it for an all boys school in Los Angeles. Jungkook could only remember the day too well when his parents had dropped the bomb about L.A. on him. He had hated the idea to go to some country he not even knew the language of and leave everyone he knew. He was shy as it was, but this was just too much. But his parents had been so proud of their little boy who would get to have a great education and have all the opportunities they always dreamed of. So he had left. For them. For the future they told him he had to have even if he didn't really want it.
It was hard at first. He didn't want to make friends--he had only ever had one and never thought he needed anyone else. But he eventuelly managed to get some people to talk to, then later some friendships formed and he even had a girlfriend (even though Junkook couldn't say he had enjoyed the experience all too much.)
He had become less shy as time passed and he wasn't all that unpopular in school either. Jungkook didn't like to brag about himself, but he couldn't help but notice the amount of looks he started to get from those around him when he changed from the skinny, weird, shy kid to a tall, fit and talented young man. Now at the age of 21, it was the first time he was back in Korea.
Seoul was bigger and busier than he remembered it and he kept scanning the street outside for a familiar face. He didn't recognize anyone. A shocking thought suddenly shot through his mind. 'what if I don't recognize him?'
-No, surely he would remember his one and only friend from  childhood!
Jungkook pulled out his phone and tuned on the screen
NO NEW MESSAGES.
He put it away again and tried to calm himself down. They said 7. It was 10 minutes past. Maybe he was running late. A smile played around his lips when he remembered their school days. Jungkook always had to wait on him to arrive and he had done so gladly. There was no one else. He was his only friend. And he had left him. Maybe he had changed his mind about meeting today. Could he blame him after they swore to be friends forever an then he had just disappeared from his life like that?
With a sigh, Jungkook stood from his table and grabbed his jacket and his camera. He had already taken plenty of photos of the streets of Seoul and this little restaurant. He needed some air. Maybe he would take some more photos of the outside.
There was a small sound from behind him. "Leaving again?"
Junkooks body froze. It was him. It was his voice, as familiar to him as his own, even thought he hadn't heard it in so long. Slowly, he turned around and his eyes went big when he landed on the boy in front of him. His first thought was " he is still tiny". There was a goofy smile on the boys puffy lips as if he was telling a joke and his eyes glittered  with a hint of mischief and genuine happiness. Jungkook couldn't help but stare... and stare... and then he broke into a massive smile too.
"Jimin"
