The mall was great. We had taken the things we bought back to the car so it was ready for when we headed to the Motel room about half a mile away. Currently, we were eating at a noodle place in the mall and Kenzi and I were having a competition to see who would cave for water first as we both asked for the spiciest hot soba they had.

I shamelessly allowed my eyes to glisten, but no more than that. Can't show any weakness or he'll tease me.

I watched as the first tear rolled down his face but he wiped away just a second too late. I cheered hoarsely, my throat blazing.

"You may have won the battle, but I will win the war!" Kenzi declared and I growled, punching his arm.

"You two are making a scene!"

"Sorry, Mom!"

Kenzi shoveled more noodles into his mouth and I did the same, giving him a smirk as I slowly dipped the soba which already had the spicy seasoning into the spicy sauce and then placing some horseradish on it. I then put it into my mouth and let the tears fall freely as I grinned at Kenzi, my mouth on fire as I panted.

Kiara giggled. "Both of you are weird."

Kiana nodded sleepily. "Bad twins. Spray bottle for you."

Kani rolled his eyes, smacking Kiana's head lightly. "We brought the spray bottle for you, dummy."

Kiana just hummed, finishing her last fish stick and immediately leaning into Mom's side for a nap. We all rolled our eyes in unison.

I narrowed my eyes at Kenzi, watching as he did the same as me but added more horseradish that was probably meant to look like wasabi. Yes, I am calling you out. I can sense that this stupid thing isn't the real deal, you cheap bastards.

"Stupid boy," I rasped, adding the ginger to my soba this time. Kenzi frowned and copied me, adding some Tobasco onto his with relish, making me frown.

"Ugly girl."

"Freak."

"Weirdo."

"Unfortunate mistake of nature."

"Dumb emotional lady."

"Proof that evolution can go backward."

Kenzi narrowed his eyes. Both of us were panting in attempt to cool the fire in our mouths, refusing to drink the water or even the tea that was graciously placed right in front of our faces.

Before he could retaliate, a large boom shook the building. Someone in the corner of the restaurant got up, a gun in either hand. His aura was grey and brown. Tainted and disgusting. It meant he had killed or at least had come close to doing it with little remorse.

"EVERYONE GET INTO THE CENTER BY THE FOUNTAIN!"

Mom hurriedly grabbed onto Kiana while Dad grabbed Kiara, Kani grabbing my hand and Kylo grabbing Kenzi's.

Kani pulled me after Mom and Dad, everyone was either screaming or crying and it hurt my ears. Kylo and Kani managed to grab onto both of our parents and yelled at Kenzi and me to hold hands.

Another boom racked the building and I felt myself get flung.

"KANI! NO!" I heard Kylo scream as I picked myself back up, ears ringing.

Faintly, I saw my brother under a piece of cement. I tried to go to him but Kylo let go of Dad and grabbed me, making sure that neither Kenzi nor I went to him.

"KANI! LET ME GO! KANI!" Kenzi shouted, myself screaming incoherently.

"I SAID MOVE!" the armed man growled, seeing Kylo holding Kenzi and I. I heard Mom scream for us, but all I could think about was Kani at the moment.
