I wake up to the smell of something. It smells kind of like burnt plastic. I hope the house isn't on fire. That's doesn't sound to bad actually.

Then however, realization kicks in and I jerk the covers off me and hurry down stairs. Well it wasn't a fire...it was dad trying to cook. Crap how long did I sleep?

I rush over to dad and start to tell him I'll cook. Before I can though, Gran pops up out of no where, "You better hurry and get dressed...we need to go." she says while pulling my arm.

"Umm go where?" I ask fully expecting dad to jump in and say no. He doesn't, however.

"You have a check up at the doctors office. I am taking you and you need to hurry." She tells me.

"I will just let me cook breakfast." I say trying to let dad know this isn't my fault.

"Nonsense get dressed. Your father can manage on his own. He is not a child." Gran says while pointing up stairs at my room.

I give dad one more 'I'm sorry' look, while he just glares at me, and take off up stairs.

I pick out a simple blue long sleeve and skinny jeans. I grab the rest of my stuff and go to the bathroom.

I get out of the shower and get dressed. I then brush my teeth and finish getting ready.

Fifteen minutes later I rush down stairs and am drug out to the car by Gran.

It is cold out today. I love fall and really love winter, but I hate that it's cold and I forgot my jacket. Well more like was pulled out of the house before I could get it.

We get to the Doctors and I end up having to wait a little. So in the meantime Gran and I sit there and talk. "Oh Anny I am going to ask your dad if you can come up for a couple of weeks in the summer. I hope that's alright with you." Gran says while reading her magazine.

It would be great to get away from the house in the summer but dad would never agree. Besides when ever I would get back from Gran's house, I doubt my body would be strong enough to take his beating. Oh, I can't even imagine it.

Before I can politely tell Gran no I am interrupted by a nurse calling my name.

After my check up I was told to wait there so that I could get my papers. They always say the same that I am healthy as a horse. It's because my dad pays the doctor enough money so that he doesn't run his mouth.

I am sitting in one of the uncomfortable chairs when I hear Gran talking to someone. Not just someone but Dakota. Why is he talking to Gran.

I look back at my book and try not to look nosy. Gran calls me over to them. I hope Dakota didn't tell her about me. I go over and greet Dakota with a smile and he nods his head.
