Chapter 8: A Party... For Answers Only

The trio would wake up and eat breakfast at the inn. Delphine would tell more rumors that the AMD have been making the dragons return to the world to the trio.

"I mean if you wanna go that crazy with the conspiracy, by all means," Develyn stated.

"Well, I just think it's more logical, they've caused chaos in this country for the past few years. Now they're more noticeable to the public eye and there has been 50 executions in the past year alone. I have a feeling that once we expose them, they won't last for long," Delphine explained.

"Since your a member of the Blades still in hiding, do you have someone of publicity not in hiding?" Develyn asked.

"A great friend of mine named Malborn is able to help you guys out he has the potions ready for you, he'll meet you at a tavern in Grand Junction, while you work out on a compromise, I'll write the invitations," Delphine explained.

"Brilliant, let's go ahead, shall we?" Develyn asked.

The trio arrived at a tavern in Grand Junction, Malborn was off sitting on a side table keeping a low profile. He soon noticed the trio walk in and used his hand in a gesture to allow him get closer.

"So you guys are taking up on a dangerous mission, listen keep yourself quiet and we'll sort this throught. First I need all of your weapons, physical of course, I don't want them to know you plan on purging the operation," Malborn explained.

"What are you gonna do with them?" Develyn asked.

"I'm gonna smuggle these into the embassy, drink these potions and stay quiet. These only last for an hour. I'll be there too, but I'll be there as a way to notice a distraction and let you guys sneak on through," Malborn whispered, he eventually handed them the potions.

The trio drank the potions, they all got a violent, gagging reaction after they consumed it. Asriel had the worst since he had a Vengeance revolt, he was unable to control the potions effects, but he was transformed into a human after a while, with a bad case of Vengeance of course. The trio transformed into humans that were no longer living in the real world. Develyn was elated that he had normal eyesight for once in his life. (A/N: Develyn was completely blind in his left eye until his cruel Uncle Jameis gouched it out with a spoon when he was four. Develyn has been able to see out of his right eye well for his whole life.)

"Ay yay yay," Andy stated.

"Meet up with Delphine just outside of town. Make it quick," Malborn stated.

Develyn pretty much floored it on the way over to where Delphine was hiding, since they didn't wanna blow the operation. 

"There you guys are, I don't even recognize you guys," Delphine stated.

"Yeah, but you know were helping out on your task here," Develyn stated.

"Here are the invitations, let's go," Delphine stated.

The trio's effects of the Polyjuice Potion were starting to wear off. One of the easily notable things that were present was that Develyn's scar over his left eye is returning. Asriel's small, white, puffy tail was also starting to appear.

"I know you don't hear this often, but floor it!" Develyn yelled, making Delphine go faster. They would arrive before the effects of wear off got worse. Outside lies a drunk man obviously not allowed to go in. Develyn simply used his charm to make him go inside. Eventually an AMD official told the trio to show their invitations inside. The effects started to wear off even more quicker. Develyn's scar was visible, Andy's hair was returning to it's spiky form, and Asriel's tail is evermore present.

"Wait, is that a tail?" A party member asked, referring to Asriel.

"We gotta come up a distraction, FAST!" Asriel whispered.

"That drunk guy, maybe he might distract them," Andy stated.

"You guys do it, I feel like my head got smashed with a sledgehammer," Develyn stated, referring to the fact that the left eye was starting to shrivel up, causing the optic nerve to go haywire.

Andy told the drunk guy to make a distraction. 

"It's show time," Develyn mumbled to Malborn.

"Go in, quickly!" Malborn whispered. The trio would eventually enter the kitchen to see a very disgusted chef.

"Why did you bring strangers in here?" The chef asked.

"They might snitch about your moon sugar addiction if you don't keep your mouth shut," Malborn answered in a sinister tone. The trio's effects of the Polyjuice potion have completely worn off and were back to their normal selves. Malborn would soon open the door to a storage room. "Your items in there, you guys are on your own, good luck."

Develyn would fit his eyepatch back around his left eye. Andy was able to get wand back, still in the same condition he left it. Malborn would soon close and lock the door to the kitchen, leaving the trio all by themselves with loads of danger in the way.

Develyn overheard two guards eavesdropping one another. "Crap, do wanna go in with a bang, or stay silent?" Develyn asked.

"Say what now?" Andy asked, he wasn't listening as he killed the guards by slitting their throats with a stroke of his wand (Sectumsempra).

"Stay silent it is then," Develyn whispered. The trio crept along the first floor, a marksman would soon be killed by Develyn's crossbow before he had a chance to spot them.

The trio went into another room, they eventually heard someone being tortured for ransom.

"Torture, it's a crime that should never exist!" Develyn whispered. He soon halted the torture session by freeing the victim and killing a patrolling guard and a torturer. The trio were soon startled with information that the AMD are also looking into the dragons as well. They would go down the stairs and free another victim of torture and coincidentally killing another torturer. The soldier would soon notice their present and would fight the trio. Asriel was left undetected as he snapped the AMD soldier's neck.

"Thanks guys, I think Esbern will be proud," The second victim stated.

"Who is Esbern?" Develyn asked.

"A friend, let's just say that, sorry if I'm wasting your time," The second victim answered.

"Run and escape," Develyn commanded to the victim. The trio soon fell into a cave and would fight their way past a troll. They would soon arrive back at Bailey.

The trio arrived at Sleeping Giant Inn. Andy was able to heal the abrasions off himself and the rest of the trio as they were pretty cut up when they purged through the AMD embassy.

"Well I'm surprised you three made it one piece, what information have you gathered?" Delphine asked.

"Well, the AMD are also looking into the dragons as well, upon more reading they're some sort of plaguemaster and they carry some kind of dangerous virus that no one can seem to combat. Think of the Spanish Flu back at the end of WWI," Develyn explained.

"They're obviously pushing off their propaganda again, I should've known," Delphine stated in a disgusted tone.

"That's not all, I think a man named Esbern is still around," Develyn noted.

"Wait, Esbern?! He's still alive?! I thought they got to him years ago!" Delphine exclaimed, "Any idea where he might be?"

"I read a document saying he's in La Junta, I'm assuming you want us to get him?" Develyn asked.

"Yes, and quick, it'll probably be a matter of time before the AMD gets him," Delphine answered.

"We'll be back with him very shortly then," Develyn stated as the trio left the inn.
