Chapter 1:
I tapped my fingers impatiently on the glass table. All of my company's board members are already inside the conference room including me.
We are still waiting for the representative from another company to arrive, but I'm already getting impatient.
What I hate the most is when people make me wait. We are supposed to start the meeting at exactly 9:00 a.m. and it's already 9:20 a.m.
I don't like people who always come in late. They are expected to arrive exactly at the given time not 20 minutes after the said time. I don't give a damn with whatever excuse they have, may it be because they got stuck at a traffic or they woke up late.
I impatiently tapped the end of my pen on the table and with an irritated face I turned to my secretary who is avoiding my heated gaze.
"Brenda I want you to call the head of the Greyson Company and ask them why the hell their representative is not here yet!" My angry voice boomed throughout the conference room
"...and do tell them that they are wasting my time!" I said coldly.
Brenda kept her head down and nodded, "Right away Ms. Van Garde!" Then she scurried out of the room.
I'm a very strict person. Almost all of the employees in the company are scared of me.
Personally, I do not want them to be scared of me but that's the only way I can make them abide what I say and for them to work properly.
I'm known in the business industry as the "Cold blooded President" because I deal with business professionally. If it's a business deal then it's just a business deal for me, nothing more.
This Industry that I now run was given to me by my father. Our business has already been in the family for almost 58 years now.
My parents toiled and worked hard just to have our company grow into one of the largest Business Empires in the world.
We own many hotels, restaurants, resorts, Condos, various shipping lines, food manufacturing businesses, hospitals, malls and many more.
We supply a large amount of the world's everyday needs, That is how big and important our company is.
After another 5 irritating minutes the representative of the Greyson Company eventually arrived.
I'm sure I already look angry as hell right now because my board members are all quiet and most of them are not looking in my direction.
I raised my eyebrow, one of the things I always do when I'm not pleased or when I'm in a bad mood.
Brenda stood beside the man, "Ms. Van Garde he's the representative from the Greyson Company."
I tapped my finger on the table for the last time before speaking. "What's your name?" It sounded more like a command rather than a question.
"J-James M-McGrath...Ma'am." He stammered.
"Tell me James, are you aware of what time our meeting should start?" I cocked my head to the right.
"9..9:00 ma'am." He sounded scared and nervous.
I merely nodded, "Do you now what time it is?"
"9:30 Ma'am." He answered nervously. The folders that he's holding is also shaking just like his hands.
I clicked my tongue then stood up from my seat. "Let me tell you something Mr. McGrath."
I walked towards him and stood in front of him. "I just lost 300 thousand dollars today because you made all of us wait here for almost 30 minutes. You know, we could've been productive during that time but no, we waited for you instead of doing our other tasks."
