Secret Model: 8

Sadly, Chloe hadn't taken any pity on me.

"You still have to go to school!"

"But why?"

"We got to wait till this all blows over. The contract will only take place next year when you turn eighteen yeah?"

"Hmm..."

"So you've got time to clean up the shit you've created!" she yelled with finality.

I was taken back alright. Chloe had never sworn to my face before. She always seemed so uptight, the kind of person who wouldn't swear to save her life.

"Fine," I say, staring directly into her eyes.

"You're returning back as a normal, everyday person starting tomorrow and no complaining okay?"

"Ugh, why?" I huff to myself.

"You brought this upon yourself so you're going to fix this yourself,"

Though I didn't like it, Chloe was right. I did bring this upon myself and I hated myself for it.

"Goodbye, Eldridge,"

I jumped from the loud bang when the door slammed shut behind, Chloe. I wanted to apologise for everything but instead, my pride got in the way. Now I'm just sitting here all alone on my couch, chewing my lip impatiently. It's time to face the truth, Eldridge, you're going back to school tomorrow as someone else that you're very familiar with.

                                                                                     *****

My stomach was fluttering inside my stomach. As if it were on a cheerleading team and it was doing backflips. I was somewhat hiding under the thin branches of a tree outside the school gates. Being, Eldridge O'Connor as a model gave me confidence to just stroll into those gates but me as an average high school student that just happens to go by a famous model's name? Nerve-wracking.

"Hey, Eldridge!"

I whipped around at the mention of my name. My heart beat a little faster when I saw his face. Nathan's face. I don't know why my heart's doing that. I'm not like one of those lovesick girls who sit around sighing all day about their dream crush. I was definitely not one of those girls at all.

"Oh hi, Nathan! How's it going?" I say awkwardly, so wanting to get out of here as quickly at I could.

"Not much..." his eyes wandered everywhere and anywhere, all except for my face.

"I'm guessing you want to ask me something?" I say with a queer smile.

"Yeah umm...I was just wondering where you were," he gave me a sad grin. "You were gone for a month so...yeah..."

I sneakily looked down at my wristwatch. Five minutes to ten.

"Oh look at the time!" I quickly plastered on a fake smile, so desperately wanting to get out of this somewhat awkward situation.

"Oh well, bye?" Nathan looked at me with confusion. My heart twisted a little when there was also hints of hurt laying underneath his eyes.

"Bye!" I said quickly before dashing straight inside the school grounds. Phew!

I instantly regretted my quick getaway from, Nathan as soon as I stepped foot on the school grounds. I felt burning holes in my back from, Lily Calder and her little hissing posse as I walked past. Etty was-as usual- sitting alone on her favoured weathering brick wall with her nose stuck in her book.

"Etty!" I hissed loudly. "Etty!"

Her head immediately snapped up and greeted my gaze. She broke out in a beaming grin and quickly rushed over and gave me a hug.

"How're ya feeling, El?"

"On top of the world," I say sarcastically.

"Oh poo, poo, get over it. It's only until your so called contract starts,"

"Uh huh,"

We walked back over to the brick wall, Etty was previously sitting on. She reopened her book and continued reading, once in a while pushing her pointed, blue reading glasses up her nose each time it slipped down.

"So how are things between you and, Nathan?" she said nonchalantly.

"What? There's nothing between us!" I immediately burst out.

She looked at me with a disbelieving, wide-eyed stare and said, "Sure there's not..."

"But there's not!" I protested.

"Yeah, whatever floats your boat!" Etty says, waving me off.

For the next twenty minutes, I sat next to, Etty, fuming. From the corner of my eye, I could see the corners of her lips twitching. Possibly laughing at my ignorance. If I were ignorant! I thought angrily to myself.

"Hey there,"

I looked up to see someone I never thought I would ever see again. His burly shoulders blocked out the sun but his dazzling white smile beamed down at me. His once curly brown hair has grown out into a shaggy mess, a mess that was urging me to run my fingers through his soft locks. Those blue eyes, I thought dreamily.

"Hi, Dustin," I breathe out.
