M a c k e n z i e ' s P O V:
Sunday. The day our parents will meet. I didn't sleep all night, just worrying and overthinking today, but I'm probably being too paranoid.
I roll out of bed and get ready for the day. I shower and change into normal clothes, worrying about changing into better clothes later on.
"Morning mom and dad." I greet my parents while passing them in the living room on my way to the kitchen.
"Good morning Mackenzie." Looking up from his newspaper, my dad gives me a small glimpse.
I wish my dad would be less formal. He always greets me and talks to me as if I'm his work colleague or something, but my mom is the complete opposite. She's so loving. How'd they even end up together in the first place?
"Morning baby girl." My mom smiles. "Hey, do you think you could make your own breakfast this morning? I'm gonna be occupied cleaning the house today, since the maid is off." She asks.
"Sure mom." I give a small smile.
I turn my attention to my father who looked at me from the corner of his eye, then he looked back at his newspaper with a small sigh, as if he wasn't looking.
Clearly he's not happy about me having a boyfriend, but he needs to understand that I'm not thirteen anymore. I'm growing up. I'm my own person. My own soldier.
I head to the kitchen to grab some cereal. I honestly don't understand why my mom feels the need to make breakfast everyday, I'm literally 16, but I guess it's because I have little siblings.
After breakfast, I go up to my room anxiously thinking about what's gonna happen in the evening. I sure hope his mom likes me. If she raised such a beautiful angel, I'm sure she has to be one herself.
Hours tick by and it's finally time for me to get ready. I skim through me closet to find the perfect outfit but it was harder than I thought.
I finally came to a decision of a Navy-blue knee-length dress with black heels, and put my hair in curls, with light makeup. As I go down stairs, I see my mom all glammed up with a green knee-length dress, her bob straightened and white heels on with light makeup as well.
I stare in awe at her. My mother is a very beautiful women. It's crazy. As I stare at her, she stares back and pulls a pouting face, mouthing the words "you're gorgeous", and I return a sweet smile. I live for these mother-daughter moments.
I return to my room, remembering that I have 5 sisters who barley listen. Uh oh. This won't turn out well. I try to calm myself down by telling myself that they're gonna be normal for and not embarrass me for once.
Grabbing my phone from the side table, I fall back onto my bed and text Alex.
"Babe?"I text, hoping he'll reply soon.
"Hey baby, what's up?" He texts back almost immediately. He always seems to be extremely fast with replies. He has never replied late to my texts. I love that about him.
"Dinner's at 8, okay?" I reply to his message.
"An hour away from now is perfect. I just started getting ready, so in about 30 mins, everyone should be ready and we'll hit the road." He answers.
"I'm so nervous, you have no idea! I hope everything goes well. But at the same time, I'm excited. Haha, I can't decide."
"Babe, everything will go smoothly, I promise. Don't worry about it."
"You're heaven sent, Mr. Davis. Now go finish dressing, I'm waiting for you." I text with a small smile on my face.
